Apollo Justice Ace Attorney

"Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney" is the fourth game in Capcom's Ace Attorney series. It first came out in Japan in 2007 and globally in 2008 for the Nintendo DS. The story takes place seven years after the events of the previous game, "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials and Tribulations." In this game, you follow Phoenix Wright's apprentice, Apollo Justice, as he works on four cases with Phoenix's adopted daughter, Trucy.

Your goal as the player is to prove the innocence of the defendants by investigating cases, questioning witnesses, and finding inconsistencies in their statements. Even though the creator, Shu Takumi, initially planned to end the series, "Apollo Justice" introduced a new main character and story.

The game was successful in terms of sales and received positive reviews for its exciting courtroom drama. In 2024, it will be re-released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One as part of the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy compilation.

Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Gameplay

In "Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney," players experience a mix of adventure and visual novel genres. The game revolves around defending clients in four cases and proving their innocence through investigation and trials. During the investigation phase, players explore the game world, gather information, and pick up items to use as evidence. Ema Skye introduces DS features like the microphone for actions like dusting for fingerprints. In trials, players listen to and cross-examine witness testimonies, choosing between pressing for more details or presenting evidence to contradict statements.

The health bar represents the judge's patience, decreasing if incorrect actions or answers are chosen. The innovative "Perceive System" detects witness nervousness, and a "Crime Recreation Mode" offers a 3-D rendition of the crime scene for exploration. Cutscene sequences recreate crimes, allowing players to observe and find contradictions in this engaging courtroom drama.
