We TV announced on December 7, 2017, that Love After Lockup would debut on January 12, 2018. The programme was renewed for a second season on February 9, 2018, and it debuted on December 7, 2018. We TV added further episodes to the second season on January 23, 2019. These episodes, which are a spin-off of the show with the working title Love After Lockup: Life After Lockup, started broadcasting on June 14, 2019. We TV said on July 19 that the second season of Love After Lockup would return on August 16, 2019, with a new set of episodes. On November 20, 2019, Love After Lockup and Love After Lockup: Life After Lockup received second and third-season renewals, respectively.

She's supposed to gather her possessions and head back to Cleveland so they may live together indefinitely. However, she doesn't believe that her partner will act properly while she is abroad. The video then goes to Derek telling a member of his family that Monique has been "strong" throughout their relationship while he has been behind bars. He has no idea that their connection could not be as stable as he believes. Producers are informed by Monique that is,"I want to see if I can find good spots to put the cameras in, so I can keep an eye on him while I'm at home in Chicago,".
