Baldur's Gate 3 New Hotfix Update

The fifth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 has been released to enhance the gaming experience for players on PS5 and PC. Larian Studios is dedicated to resolving bugs, glitches, and multiplayer problems promptly. This hotfix brings exciting news for those who have taken an interest in Minthara, as it addresses an issue that previously hindered access to some of her dialogues.

Now, players can engage in new conversations with Minthara in Act 3, allowing them to delve deeper into their relationship with this character and uncover more about her backstory. Depending on approval ratings, romancing Minthara can lead to the progression of your relationship and unlock additional dialogues, both interactive and non-interactive, showcasing the complexity of this romantic storyline.

However, Minthara isn't the only one with something to say about your romantic escapades. Other companions in your party may comment on your relationships, and things can get dicey if they also have their own romantic involvements with you. PS5 players will also benefit from this hotfix, as it addresses graphical issues on HDR TVs, audio problems, and crashes related to the onscreen keyboard, ensuring a smoother gaming experience on this platform.

SPOILERS - Please bear in mind some of the entries below might contain spoilers. 

HIGHLIGHTS

• Fixed a bug that locked players out of many of Minthara’s lines of dialogue.

CRASHES AND BLOCKERS

• Fixed sometimes not being able to talk to NPCs or party members because the game thought you were still in a dialogue.
• Fixed a rare crash that would occur when faraway characters got close to the party.
• Fixed a crash that would occur if a guard responding to a crime created a summon (e.g. an elemental), and you fled the combat or were incapacitated without killing the summon.

PS5

• Fixed an issue causing the game's audio to stop working on PS5.
• Fixed graphical issues on HDR TVs when the HDR black level calibration was set to 0.
• Fixed a crash that would occur when opening the onscreen keyboard.

PERFORMANCE

• Fixed a memory leak when creating and destroying many objects.

MULTIPLAYER

• Improved performance when cycling through Character Sheet tabs in splitscreen.
• Fixed splitscreen not working correctly when a client with splitscreen already enabled joins a multiplayer game.
• Fixed dismissed avatars not showing up properly in Withers' Wardrobe if the host is at camp and is already looking inside the wardrobe.
• Fixed characters sometimes disappearing on splitscreen when the client reconnects after disconnecting while listening in on a dialogue.
• Clients rejoining a multiplayer game where there's a dismissed avatar in Withers' Wardrobe will now be able to pick that avatar up again rather than have to create a new avatar. (This bug would happen when the client left the session and another player selected that client's avatar in the middle of the dismiss-to-camp dialogue.)

FLOW AND GAMEPLAY

• Trader NPCs will now retain their Approval Rating of avatars and companions even after they're dismissed to Withers' Wardrobe.
• Fixed the Emperor not dying and therefore not triggering the Game Over flow if you bring him to 0 HP outside of combat in the Astral Plane.
• Fixed not being able to talk to Minthara at camp if you dismissed her outside of camp.
• Fixed Level Up not working as expected if you level up while the game is saving.
• Fixed Hag's Bane not having an effect on Auntie Ethel.

UI

• Fixed text being cut off in the title of tutorial pop-ups.
• Fixed button prompts getting cut off on the Multiplayer Settings screen on splitscreen.
• Fixed some UIs not updating when saving, causing, for example, Shadowheart's inventory to appear empty when you recruit her on the beach.
• Fixed the tadpole count in the Radial Menu on controller.

CONTROLLER

• Fixed characters getting stuck when the Analog Stick Selection setting is set to Left Stick and you rotate the stick in circles as far as it can go.

ART

• Added nipple covers to Cazador's spawn for when the nudity filter is enabled.

LEVEL DESIGN

• Moved Withers' Wardrobe in the crèche camp to avoid clipping with Shadowheart's tent.

Baldur's Gate III Gameplay

Baldur's Gate 3 is a role-playing video game that offers both single-player and cooperative multiplayer gameplay. In the game, players can create and control one or more characters and assemble a party, which can include pre-made characters, to embark on their adventure and explore the game's storyline. Additionally, players have the option to team up with others online to form a party, enhancing the cooperative multiplayer experience.

The game's combat system is turn-based and follows the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, which adds depth and strategy to battles. This combat style is similar to Larian Studios' previous games, such as Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II.

Baldur's Gate III Plot

The game offers a branching plot where key story elements remain consistent, but details and side quests can vary significantly based on player choices. Players can create their own character from scratch, choose from six pre-made "origin characters," or select a customizable seventh "origin character." These characters each have unique questlines and playstyles. The game is divided into three acts:

Act I: 

The story begins with the protagonist awakening on an illithid ship, implanted with an illithid tadpole that transforms people into mind flayers. The ship is attacked by githyanki warriors, leading to its crash landing in Faerûn. The protagonist seeks a cure for the tadpole while encountering other survivors with similar afflictions.

Act II: 

This act centers around Moonrise Towers and the surrounding lands, once peaceful but now consumed by unnatural darkness. The protagonist explores the region, searching for a cure and dealing with the curse that plagues the land.

Act III: 

The final act takes place in Baldur's Gate and the suburb of Rivington. The main plot involves the remaining antagonists' attempts to pit the protagonist against each other. Companions also find closure for their personal quests, and the story culminates in a battle against the Absolute and the illithid threat.
