Baldurs Gate 3 Rescue the Grand Duke
In Baldur's Gate 3, there's a complex quest to rescue the Grand Duke, and it spans different parts of the game.
Act One:
The quest starts in the wilderness at the beginning of the game. After dealing with Druids and Goblins, you end up at Waukeen's Rest, where the Grand Duke is held captive. You'll meet Flaming Fist warriors who ask for your help in rescuing him. You need to enter a burning building and save survivors. After that, you find out the Grand Duke has been moved to the Moonrise Towers.
Act Two:
You journey through the Shadow-cursed Lands, which is challenging due to the Shadow curse. Defeating Kar'niss and his gang will help you navigate better. Eventually, you reach the Last Light Inn, where you rest before your assault on the Moonrise Towers. It's a good idea to pose as a follower of the Absolute to gain an audience with Ketheric Thorm. After defeating him, you discover the Grand Duke is taken to Baldur's Gate.
Act Three:
In Baldur's Gate, you progress the questline until you reach Gortash. During a discussion with Gortash, he invites you to his coronation ceremony, where the Grand Duke is present but incoherent. You can't free him directly at this point. You need to go back to camp and talk to your allies. Wyll, the Grand Duke's son, has to make a tough choice between serving a demon to save his father or breaking the pact with the demon, which may lead to the Grand Duke's eventual death.
Saving the Grand Duke from the Iron Throne:
To rescue the Grand Duke, head to the Lower City area in Baldur's Gate, where you'll meet Redhammer the Deviser. He'll take you to the Iron Throne, an underwater prison. Your task is to free the Grand Duke within six turns. He's in the eastern wing of the prison. Use your fastest mobility spells to reach him and unlock the gate. You'll face enemy attacks, so be ready to defend. If you accepted Mizora's help earlier, she'll buff the Grand Duke to help him escape. If not, characters like Shadowheart or a Cleric can provide the same buffs. Once you successfully escape, the Grand Duke will be safe at your camp.
