Best Pals to Catch Early to Mid Game

When embarking on your Palworld journey, it's wise to capture a variety of Pals to level up quickly. However, focusing on specific Pals during the early to mid-game (before level 30) can significantly strengthen your team and boost base efficiency.

Eikthyrdeer: Your Trusty Mount

Eikthyrdeer, a neutral Pal with large antlers, stands out as an excellent early-game mount. With the ability to perform a double jump while mounted and increase tree-cutting efficiency, Eikthyrdeer's "Antler Uppercut" not only deals damage but also acts as a movement speed boost. This makes it ideal for both travel and helping catch other Pals by knocking them down.

Vanwyrm: Soaring Through the Skies

Encountering Vanwyrm as your second flying mount is a game-changer. Its "Aerial Marauder" skill not only allows you to ride it but also increases the damage you deal to enemy weak points while mounted. Switching to Vanwyrm at level 21 is recommended for enhanced combat performance and easier exploration.

Quivern: Combat Versatility in Flight

For combat enthusiasts, Quivern, a dragon-type Pal, is a great choice. With skills like "Draconic Breath," "Acid Rain," and "Grass Tornado," Quivern offers diverse attack options. While it's a boss spawning at level 23, engaging it on Sanctuary islands is a practical way to add this combat-savvy Pal to your team.

Katress: Dominating the Battle with Drops

Katress, a dark-type Pal, brings both strength and utility to your team. With powerful dark attacks, it becomes exceptionally valuable in combat. Its partner skill, "Grimoire Collector," increases item drops from defeated Neutral Pals, making it an asset for collecting essential resources in the early game.

Warsect: Defense and Fire Damage Boost

Warsect, a massive Ground/Grass beetle, excels in both attack and defense. When fighting alongside Warsect, your defense increases, and your attacks gain Fire damage. This combination of defensive capabilities makes Warsect a valuable Pal for long-term team sustainability.

Best Pals for Your Base

Moving beyond combat-focused Pals, securing the right ones for your base early on is crucial for efficiency and productivity.

Vixy: Digging Up Success

Vixy, a neutral Pal with the "Dig Here!" skill, plays a vital role in resource gathering for your base. When assigned to Ranch, Vixy digs up items from the ground, providing you with Pal spheres and arrows. Acquiring two Vixys early on for your Ranch is recommended to aid in progression and leveling.

Tombat: Mining, Gathering, and Transporting Expert

Tombat, a dark-type Pal, proves invaluable for your base operations. Offering Rank 2 mining, gathering, and transporting, Tombat efficiently breaks down ore and transports it. Capturing Tombats in the starting zone during nighttime ensures a steady supply of essential resources for your base.

Mossanda: Versatile Tasks with Ease

Mossanda, a grass-type Pal, brings versatility to your base tasks. With Rank 2 planting, handiwork, and lumbering, and Rank 3 transporting, Mossanda excels in various activities. While a bit more challenging to find northeast over the sea, acquiring Mossanda adds efficiency to your base operations.

Wixen: Crafting and Transportation Aid

Wixen, a fire-type Pal, stands out as one of the earliest Pals offering Rank 3 handiwork. With additional Rank 2 kindling and transporting abilities, Wixen plays a crucial role in ingot production and item transportation. Though rare, locating Wixen in the large volcanic fissure northeast of the map enhances your base's productivity.

Digtoise: Mining Maestro

Digtoise, a ground-type Pal, specializes in mining with a remarkable Rank 3 mining ability. Its partner skill, "Drill Crusher," makes mining exceptionally fast. Found in the middle of the map, around coordinates -158, -71, Digtoise becomes an essential asset for efficiently gathering ores for your base. In instances where Digtoise is not accessible, the temporary use of Rushoar provides a lesser but effective ability to mine rocks faster when mounted.

Palworld Gameplay

Palworld's gameplay offers a unique blend of peaceful coexistence and thrilling adventures. Players can choose to live harmoniously alongside mysterious creatures called Pals or embark on risky endeavors to fend off a relentless poaching syndicate. The versatile Pals can be used in various ways, from fighting off dangers to working on farms or factories. Interestingly, players even have the option to sell or consume these creatures, adding an extra layer of choice and consequence to the game.

Survival is a key aspect of Palworld, set in a challenging environment where scarcity of food and the threat of poachers make every decision crucial. Navigating through this world requires careful choices, and players may find themselves making tough decisions, such as resorting to eating their own Pals for survival. The gameplay extends to exploration, allowing players to mount Pals for land, sea, and sky travel. Building structures, utilizing Pals for production and farming, and delving into dungeons with them are all part of the dynamic gameplay. Additionally, multiplayer support enables cooperative adventures for up to 4 players in online co-op play mode and up to 32 players on a dedicated server, fostering a social and interactive gaming experience.

Palworld Development

Palworld is both developed and published by Pocket Pair, an independent company situated in Shinagawa, Tokyo. This game, being their second early access open-world survival project after Craftopia, draws inspiration from popular titles like Minecraft and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, incorporating familiar gameplay mechanics.

According to Pocket Pair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, the concept for Palworld was rooted in Ark: Survival Evolved, a game featuring monster companions in the form of dinosaurs. The survival mechanics and in-game tasks took inspiration from Rust, while creature designs were influenced by the Dragon Quest series. Notably, during early development, the decision was made to shift from Unity, the engine behind Pocket Pair's earlier projects, to Unreal Engine. The development process was significant, with the game's budget surpassing 1 billion yen, and the company expanding its team by hiring over 40 additional employees for this ambitious project.
