Recap of Boys Abyss Chapter 131
Let's recap what happened earlier in the manga. In the previous chapter, Gen struggles with his complex identity and desires. He confides in Reiji that he doesn't want to be with Yuoko, he wants to be Yuoko - a woman. Gen feels cursed to have been born into a society where he can't pursue his desires without facing negative consequences. Gen reveals his love for Reiji and asks him to die with him instead of Nagi or Chako. He dreams of a future where he and Reiji can be together in their taboo love. Gen also confesses to murdering Yuoko and disposing of her body in the river, as per her dying request. He asks Reiji to kill him for his heinous act of killing not just his mother but his father as well.
Reiji is unable to bring himself to do something like that and instead urges Gen to turn himself in to the police and clear his name. He consoles Gen by promising to wait for him. Together, they visit the river where Reiji's mother's body was disposed of, and Reiji reflects on the abuse he suffered at the hands of his unstable mother. He feels guilty that even after her death, he still can't feel anything.
