Caifanes Band
Caifanes is a rock band originating from Mexico City, formed in 1987. The group gained international recognition during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The original lineup comprised Saúl Hernández (vocals and guitar), Sabo Romo (bass guitar), Alfonso André (drums), and Diego Herrera (keyboards and saxophone). Alejandro Marcovich later joined as the lead guitar player.
Caifanes is known for a unique blend of British new wave, progressive rock, and Latin percussion. Their music is characterized by deep, somber lyrics influenced by Latin American-Mexican Spanish. Major influences include The Cure, The Beatles, and King Crimson. The band's name, "Caifanes," is derived from 1940s Mexican pachuco slang meaning "cool dude."
