Chromeo is a music duo from Canada. They started making music together in 2002. The two members are David "Dave 1" Macklovitch and Patrick "P-Thugg" Gemayel. They met when they were teenagers in Montreal. They started by making hip hop music together.
Their music style mixes different kinds of sounds like funk, dance, and pop. People often compare their music to bands from the 1980s like Hall & Oates and Prince. They released their first album, "She's in Control," in 2004. One of the songs from that album, called "Needy Girl," became very popular in clubs around the world.
After a break, they released more albums like "Fancy Footwork" in 2007 and "Business Casual" in 2010. Their music got positive reviews from critics.In 2014, they released "White Women" and in 2018, "Head Over Heels." They got nominated for a Grammy Award for one of the songs on "Head Over Heels."
Outside of music, Dave 1 was studying French literature at Columbia University, but he paused his studies because the band became successful. P-Thugg plays keyboards, synthesizers, bass guitar, and a talk box for Chromeo.They also started their own record label called "Juliet Records" in 2020. And they released a live album in 2021.
Chromeo performed at big music festivals like Coachella. Their music continues to be loved by fans all around the world.
