In the second season, the story picks up where the first season left off. Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, spies from Citadel, are believed to have perished in an ambush orchestrated by Manticore agents during their mission in Italy.
After eight years, Mason, now living under the identity of Kyle Conroy with no recollection of his past, leads a peaceful life with his wife and daughter. Unbeknownst to him, Citadel agent Bernard Orlick discovers that Mason is alive and that Manticore operative Dahlia Archer is in pursuit of the classified Citadel X case.
To ensure the safety of his family, Orlick abducts Kyle and his loved ones, forcing him to retrieve the case. Meanwhile, Nadia also survives the mission in Italy but finds herself captured by an Italian man. In a desperate act of self-defense, she eliminates her captor and escapes, only to have her memories erased remotely by Orlick.
Eight years later, Mason acquires the Citadel X case, but Orlick is apprehended by Archer's team. Upon discovering that Nadia is still alive, Mason reaches out to her and aids her in restoring her memories using a serum discovered within the case.
