Dead By Daylight - 7.0.1 Patch

The Dead by Daylight 7.0.1 update, known as the End Transmission Chapter, is now live. This update focuses on bug fixes and balancing improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience. One of the major highlights of this update is the buffs provided to the killer called Singularity.

Previously, players had expressed concerns about the lack of dynamism and limitations in Singularity's gameplay, particularly when it came to catching Survivors. The update aims to address these issues and make Singularity more enjoyable to play.

In addition to the killer buffs, the 7.0.1 update also includes improvements to the AI of the bots in the game. The bots now approach the objectives and Survivors more efficiently from the beginning of the session, which should lead to a more engaging and challenging experience for players.

Furthermore, a fix has been implemented for the "For the People" perk. Previously, this perk incorrectly inflicted the Endurance effect, which was originally intended for the "Made for this" perk. This issue has now been resolved, ensuring that the perks function as intended. For more detailed information about the changes and updates in the 7.0.1 patch of Dead by Daylight, I recommend referring to the official patch notes available on Behaviour Interactive's website.

Dead By Daylight Wiki

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive, a Canadian studio. The game follows a one-versus-four format, where one player assumes the role of the Killer, while the other four players take on the roles of Survivors.

The objective for the Killer is to capture and impale each Survivor on sacrificial hooks to satisfy a malevolent force called the Entity. Conversely, the Survivors must evade the Killer and collaborate to repair five generators in order to power up the exit gates and escape.

The game features a mix of original characters and licensed content from popular franchises like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Attack on Titan, Crypt TV, Evil Dead, Halloween, Hellraiser, Iron Maiden, Left 4 Dead, Naughty Bear, Nicolas Cage, Resident Evil, Ringu, Saw, Silent Hill, Slipknot, Stranger Things, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Dead by Daylight was initially released for Windows in 2016. It later became available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, the Nintendo Switch in 2019, and Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S in 2020. In 2023, it was verified as compatible with the Steam Deck.

The game was originally published by Swedish studio Starbreeze Studios until 2018, when Behaviour Interactive acquired the publishing rights. The Nintendo Switch version is published by 505 Games, while physical copies for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are published by Deep Silver.

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon release, Dead by Daylight has achieved significant commercial success and has amassed a player base of over 50 million. Currently, there is a film adaptation of the game in development by Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster Productions.

Dead By Daylight Gameplay

In Dead by Daylight, the gameplay revolves around an asymmetrical horror experience where one player assumes the role of the Killer, while the other four players take on the roles of Survivors. These gameplay sessions are referred to as trials.

The main objective for the Survivors is to escape the trial by repairing five out of the seven generators scattered throughout the map. Repairing the generators powers the two exit gates, which the Survivors need to open in order to leave. On the other hand, the Killer's goal is to capture and impale all the Survivors on hooks before they can escape. When a Survivor is hooked, they are sacrificed to the malevolent force known as the Entity.

If only one Survivor remains in the trial, an escape hatch appears at a random location. The hatch allows the Survivor to escape if the Killer doesn't close it before they can reach it. Additionally, if the Killer manages to close the hatch or if an exit gate is opened, the "Endgame Collapse" begins. During the Endgame Collapse, Survivors have two minutes to escape, and the timer is extended if there are any injured or hooked Survivors remaining.

When hunting Survivors, the Killer can injure them with their weapon, which puts them into a dying state after a second strike. Alternatively, the Killer can catch Survivors off guard and instantly grab them in one move. While Survivors can attempt to escape from the hook the first time they are impaled, the chances of success are low. Other Survivors can come to their rescue and unhook them. However, if a Survivor is hooked for the third time, they are sacrificed to the Entity.

Survivors have various movement options available to them, including sprinting, walking, crouch-walking, and crawling. They must try to elude the Killer by breaking their line of sight during a chase or successfully hiding from them. Most Killers have a movement speed slightly faster than that of a sprinting Survivor.

However, the Killer is slower in certain actions like vaulting obstacles. Killers cannot leap over obstacles that Survivors can drop in their path, and they must either navigate around them or destroy them. Each Killer possesses a unique power that grants them special abilities.

For example, the Wraith can turn invisible and move faster (although unable to strike Survivors while hidden), while the Hillbilly wields a chainsaw, allowing for quick dashes and instant knockdowns of any Survivors in the way. These powers can be enhanced or modified using add-ons obtained during gameplay.

Survivors have the ability to search chests scattered throughout the trial area, which may contain helpful items such as maps, keys, toolboxes, med-kits, and flashlights. Most Killers emit an innate "terror radius" around them, which creates a heartbeat sound that increases in intensity as Survivors get closer.

Survivors can also see a red light, known as the "red stain," projecting from the Killer's head onto the ground, indicating the direction they are facing. This red stain helps Survivors anticipate the Killer's movements, especially when they are about to turn a corner.

Some Killers can suppress their terror radius and red stain under specific conditions, allowing them to surprise unsuspecting Survivors. Overall, Dead by Daylight offers a dynamic gameplay experience with its intense cat-and-mouse mechanics, unique Killer powers, and various strategies employed by both the Survivors and the Killer.
