In a magical forest, there lives a kind-hearted witch named Alissa. One day, she stumbles upon an abandoned human baby, a little girl she names Viola. Alissa takes it upon herself to raise Viola as her own. Giriko and Luna bring a special magic photo album that shows memories from when they were kids to Viola. Viola learns that they turned their childhood hobbies into their jobs as herbalists, fortune tellers, and magic item engineers.
This makes Viola wonder about her own future career, as her main interests are Alissa and birds. But things take a funny turn when Viola accidentally sees Luna's peculiar memories involving something called a "masochist harem," and Luna and Giriko quickly run away before Alissa can scold them.
Soon after, Viola falls ill, and Phoenix offers to make chicken soup with his immortal body to help her feel better. However, Alissa isn't too keen on the idea. Viola, plagued by fever-induced nightmares that cause real-world trouble for Alissa, refuses to sleep. She also starts "ex-spelling," which is when sick witches release pure magic through vomiting. Luckily, it smells sweet and disappears.
Phoenix eventually persuades Viola to sleep, and in her dreams, she recalls memories of her birth mother, although she forgets them upon waking. Viola gets better, but Phoenix ends up catching a cold through his familiar connection with Viola. Alissa also remembers a time when Viola summoned a water spirit in her sleep at the age of 6, sparking her love for animals and summoning magic.
