Destiny 2 Lightfall

Destiny 2: Lightfall is a major expansion for Bungie's first-person shooter video game, Destiny 2. Released on February 28, 2023, Lightfall is the seventh expansion and the sixth year of extended content for the game. The story of the expansion focuses on Calus, the exiled Cabal emperor and a recurring character throughout Destiny 2, who is now a Disciple of the Witness. Together with their army of Shadow Legion Cabal and Tormentors, they attack the technologically advanced human city of Neomuna on Neptune, en route to the Last City, with the aim of heralding a second Collapse.

Lightfall introduces new content across the game, including new missions, Player versus Environment locations, Player versus Player maps, player gear, weaponry, and a new raid. The expansion also features two new dungeons, as well as a reprised raid from either the original Destiny or one previously removed from Destiny 2, which will be released over the course of the year.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid Release Date

On March 10th at 8:30 AM (PT), the Root of Nightmares raid will be released in Destiny 2: Lightfall, and it is expected to be one of the most significant contents of the expansion. Players from around the world will form squads to tackle this raid, which is considered to be the most challenging in the game so far.

The competition mode will be active during the first 48 hours of the raid's release, where Fireteams that successfully complete it within this period will receive exclusive rewards and access to limited items in the Shop. Bungie is also hosting a Twitch Rivals event, where the first six players to complete the raid will be sought after. To win, the team must complete all the encounters, open the final chest, and return to orbit before other participants. Check the time based on your location in the list below:

  • Pacific: 8:30 AM
  • Central: 10:30 AM
  • Eastern: 11:30 AM
  • UK: 00:30 AM

Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid Light Level

To participate in The Root of Nightmares raid, your character's light level should be a minimum of 1800. However, it is advisable to aim for the hard cap of 1810 to avoid any equipment-related problems. Once you reach this level, your success in the raid will depend solely on your skills.

To achieve this light level, it is recommended to complete as many weekly challenges as possible, which can be identified by yellow circles on the destination and map tabs. To maximize efficiency, prioritize obtaining powerful engrams before pinnacle engrams.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid Weapons

In Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion, players can obtain three new Exotic weapons by completing the campaign. However, it's worth noting that some of these weapons may only be available after the Root of Nightmares raid's World's First race is completed.

Final Warning

To use Final Warning, a Kinetic slot Strand Sidearm, hold down the trigger to mark targets and load a burst of bullets. When firing from the hip, the bullets will aggressively track marked targets. This weapon can be obtained by completing The Final Strand quest, which can be picked up from the Pouka Pond in the Hall of Heroes on Neomuna. However, to unlock the quest, you must first acquire all Strand fragments, which won't be possible until after the completion of the Root of Nightmares raid on March 10th.

Deterministic Chaos

Deterministic Chaos is a Void Machine Gun that fires heavy projectiles every fourth bullet when the trigger is held down, weakening targets on impact. Additionally, every fourth heavy projectile has the ability to make targets volatile upon impact. To obtain this weapon, players must complete the Unfinished Business quest, which can be initiated in the Hall of Heroes after completing the Lightfall campaign.

Winterbite

Winterbite is an Exotic Stasis Glaive that fires a large ball of energy, which locks onto and freezes nearby targets. To obtain this weapon, players must first complete the Lightfall campaign and then embark on a questline to unlock it.

Lightfall Exotic Armor

In Lightfall, six new Exotic armor pieces are introduced, with two available for each class. One piece for each class can be obtained by completing the Legendary Lightfall campaign, and our detailed walkthrough can guide players through this on either Normal or Legendary difficulty. The other Exotic armor piece for each class can be acquired by completing a Legend or Master Lost Sector solo. To find the Legend Lost Sector and its associated reward for the day, players can check their Director. However, replaying the Legendary campaign on the same character will not grant the other Exotic armor piece for that class.

Cyrtarachne's Facade

The Exotic Hunter Helmet called Cyrtarachne's Facade has the Acrobat's Focus perk. When you have a Strand subclass equipped, using your grapple ability grants you Woven Mail, which gives you damage resistance for 10 seconds. This Exotic also reduces incoming flinch while Woven Mail is active, regardless of how you acquired it.

Speedloader Slacks

The Exotic Hunter legs called Speedloader Slacks come with the Tight Fit perk, which enhances your reload speed, handling, and airborne abilities for you and nearby allies when you perform a dodge. This buff can be stacked up to five times and can be refreshed by defeating enemies or performing dodges while the buff is active.

Abeyant Leap

The Exotic Titan boots, Abeyant Leap, come with the Puppeteer's Control perk. When you have equipped the Strand subclass and the Drengr's Lash aspect, using your Barricade will spawn two extra Strand projectiles that travel further and aggressively target enemies, suspending them momentarily in the air. This also grants you damage resistance through Woven Mail while suspending targets.

Cadmus Ridge Lancecap

The Cadmus Ridge Lancecap is an Exotic helmet designed for Titans and equipped with the Lancer's Vigil perk. With a Stasis subclass, you can create Diamond Lances that generate Stasis crystals when thrown, and throwing them at a boss or vehicle will create even more crystals. Moreover, while you stand behind a Rally Barricade and use your Stasis subclass, landing rapid precision hits or quickly defeating targets with a Stasis weapon will spawn a Diamond Lance.

Swarmers

Swarmers are Exotic leg armor for Warlocks that come with the Swarmers perk. When you have the armor equipped, destroying a Tangle will create a Threadling that searches for targets. Any target damaged by a Threadling created by you will have its defenses Unravelled.

Ballidorse Wrathweavers

The Ballidorse Wrathweavers are Exotic arm armor for Warlocks, which bestow the Hearts of Ice Exotic perk. When using your Winter's Wrath Stasis super, activating the Shockwave ability with these arms equipped will increase the shatter damage dealt. Moreover, any allies within range of your Shockwave will receive an overshield and deal more damage with Stasis weapons.
