BungieHelp explained on Twitter that the problem seems to be caused by having older expansions still installed on the console, such as Forsaken or other preorder item packs. This conflict can put the game into an endless connection loop. To fix it, players need to close the game, select 'Manage game and add-ons' on the Destiny 2 panel, and remove the specified content. Some users may need to remove additional old packs to connect properly. Despite the issue, Bungie is actively working to resolve it.

Run the Launcher as an Administrator

• Make sure to checkmark the Run this program as an administrator checkbox.
• Click on Apply and then select OK to save changes.
• Finally, you can simply double-click on the game exe file to launch it without any further complications.

Update Graphics Drivers

• Open the Quick Access Menu by right-clicking on the Start Menu.
• From the list of options, click on Device Manager to open the interface.
• Double-click on Display adapters to expand it.
• Right-click on the dedicated graphics card that is active.
• Click on Update driver and choose the option "Search automatically for drivers."

End Background Processes 

• Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut keys on the keyboard to open Task Manager.

• Then click on End Task to close it.

• Once done, close the Task Manager window, and restart your PC.

Disable Steam Overlay

1. Open the Steam client.
2. Go to Library.
3. Right-click on Destiny 2.
4. Select Properties.

• Change the value of ‘FullscreenMode=1’ to ‘FullscreenMode=0’ and save the changes.
• Finally, try launching the game again to check if the issue has been resolved.

Disable DirectX 12

1. Open Destiny 2 game and go to Settings.
2. Click on Video from the menu.
3. Set ‘Enable DX12’ to ‘Off’.
4. Save the changes and exit the Settings menu.
5. Restart Destiny 2 game to apply the changes.

Set Correct Rendering Device

1. Open the Steam client and then launch Destiny 2 game.
2. Go to the Video Settings menu from the game.
3. Go to ‘Selected Rendering Device’.
4. Select your dedicated GPU. [Do not leave it to ‘Default’]
5. Once done, reboot the game to save changes.

Disable Multi-Threaded Rendering

Repair Game Files 

1. Open the Steam client.
2. Go to Library.
3. Click on Destiny 2 from the list of installed games.
4. Click on the Settings icon next to Destiny 2 game page.
5. Click on Manage.
6. Go to Browse local files.
7. Open the Prospect folder.
8. Open the Binaries folder.
9. Open the Win64 folder.
10. Select the file named ‘Prospect-Win64-Shipping.’
11. Add the file to the list.
12. You're good to go.

Update Destiny 2

1. Launch the Steam client.
2. Click on the Library option.
3. Right-click on Destiny 2 from the list of installed games.
4. Click on Properties.
5. Go to Local Files.
6. Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
7. Wait for the process to complete.
8. Once done, restart your computer.

Destiny 2 Server Status
