Dune: Spice Wars Gameplay
"Dune: Spice Wars" is a strategy game that takes place on a desert planet called Arrakis. On this planet, there are special areas with valuable resources like spice and minerals. Some unique spots, like the polar ice caps, provide a lot of water. In the game, you can't move troops through the deep desert unless you've done specific research.
There are five groups you can join, each with a different leader and special advantages. At the beginning, you can choose advisors who give you extra benefits. Once you have agents, you can send them to different factions or research areas. For instance, if you place agents with the Harkonnen group, you can carry out actions against them. Putting agents on Arrakis helps you explore special places. Watch out for sandworms that can suddenly show up and eat your units. They give a warning first. There are also places called Sietches in the desert that you can either be friends with or destroy.
You use ornithopters to explore the desert and its sites. You can upgrade your main base and the towns you control with different buildings to make resources. Enemy bases have troops defending them. Once you defeat those troops, you can take over a village if you have enough authority. You can study various technologies in a skill tree, from military to economic. To keep control, you need enough money, military power, water, and authority. Spice is important for diplomacy and trade. You also have to pay a tax to the Landsraad every so often to keep your standing with them. If you don't pay, you'll lose influence and votes for your faction. The Landsraad meets every few weeks, and you can decide what topics they vote on, which can give advantages or disadvantages to you or your enemies.
