F1 23 Gameplay
F1 23 marks the return of the story mode "Braking Point," which debuted in F1 2021. The game features well-known characters like Devon Butler and Aiden Jackson, as well as new characters like Callie Mayer, Devon's sister, and Davidoff Butler, CEO of Butler Global. Andreo Konner, the founder of Konnersport, and Casper Akkerman, a now-retired veteran driver, also make appearances. The narrative mode includes live-action scenes, reminiscent of Grid Legends.
The game introduces significant improvements to driving physics and the option to set a 35% race distance. Red flags, absent since F1 2014, are reintroduced. The UI has been overhauled to resemble the presentation of current Formula One races. Notably, the My Team Icons pack features legends like Nigel Mansell, Jamie Chadwick, Pastor Maldonado, and Kamui Kobayashi, among others. Pre-orders include characters from Braking Point 2 as icons.

Plot
In the 2022 season, Aiden Jackson joins the Konnersport Butler Global Racing Team after failing to secure agreements with other teams. During the Miami Grand Prix, Aiden faces car issues and retires, while Devon Butler scores points for the team. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Butler is ordered to give way to Jackson, but he ignores the order. Jackson overtakes Butler and finishes ahead of him.
In F2, Callie Mayer becomes the first female Formula 2 Champion with Trident's support, aided by retired driver Casper Akkerman, who was Jackson's former teammate.
In the 2023 season, Akkerman becomes Konnersport's new team principal, succeeding Andreo Konner, who remains with the team. During the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Butler crashes and announces his immediate retirement due to a hearing problem he kept hidden. Konnersport must find a new driver to secure funding from Butler Global. They choose Callie to replace Devon. At the Spanish Grand Prix, Aiden races with Noah Bell, the reserve driver, and finishes in the top eight.
During her debut in Baku, Callie makes contact with Jackson after an attempt to let her teammate pass. At the British Grand Prix, Jackson refuses to let Callie overtake him, but she manages to finish in the top 10. The team faces financial challenges, and Andreo and Casper reveal the funding crisis to Aiden and Callie, threatening Konnersport's future in F1.
At the Italian Grand Prix, Devon returns to Konnersport as the team liaison. In Singapore, Devon upsets Aiden with advice, but he finishes in the top five. After the race, Devon apologizes to Callie, and she confronts her father, Davidoff, about his business-oriented decisions.
In São Paulo, Callie stands up to Davidoff, and during the Safety Car, she finishes in the top five. In Abu Dhabi, Casper takes control of a meeting, and Aiden apologizes to Callie. However, Aiden's race ends with a mechanical failure, while Callie secures a top-four finish to keep Konnersport in Formula One.
After the race, Butler Global's funding is secured, and Konnersport prepares for the upcoming season.
