Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an upcoming video game developed and published by Square Enix. It's set to release on February 29, 2024, for the PlayStation 5. This game is a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which came out in 2020, and it's the second part of a planned trilogy that's recreating the original 1997 game, Final Fantasy VII.
Similar to the first one, this game mixes real-time action with strategy and role-playing. It continues the story right after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Players control the character Cloud Strife and his group, mainly the eco-terrorist organization AVALANCHE. Together, they go on a journey to stop the powerful corporation Shinra from misusing the life essence of the Planet, called Lifestream, as an energy source. They also aim to defeat Sephiroth, a former elite SOLDIER who wants to gain more power by merging with the Planet.
The development of the game started in November 2019, even before the first Remake was released. The official announcement came in June 2022. Many of the key people who worked on the previous game are back, but with some changes in roles, such as Tetsuya Nomura as the creative director and Naoki Hamaguchi as the director.

Flashback: Nibelheim Mission
The demo starts with a flashback, recounting the events of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the confrontation between Cloud and Sephiroth. Cloud then narrates an excursion to Nibelheim five years prior when he and Sephiroth were agents of SOLDIER.
Controlled by Sephiroth: The player briefly controls Sephiroth, slashing through two Disgorgons on the road. Sephiroth dispatches one effortlessly and saves Cloud from the other.
Present Day: Kalm - Discussing Nibelheim
Controlled by Cloud: Back in Kalm, Cloud and the party discuss Nibelheim's past. Sephiroth hints at his connection to Jenova. Barret interrupts in the present, acknowledging Jenova's connection to Shinra.
Explore Nibelheim

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Gameplay
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game in a trilogy that's redoing the original 1997 PlayStation game, Final Fantasy VII. It picks up the story after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), where the party escapes from the city of Midgar.
In the game, you mostly play as Cloud Strife, a former soldier of Shinra. He joins a group called AVALANCHE, an eco-terrorist organization fighting against Shinra, who's harming the planet by draining its life energy. The story also involves a conflict with Sephiroth, a legendary SOLDIER who was believed to be dead. Similar to Remake, Rebirth reimagines parts of the original game, giving more depth to characters and expanding the overall story.
The game has real-time exploration and combat. The world is more open-ended than Remake's Midgar, with markers showing main story quests and sidequests. The party can travel on foot or ride Chocobos for faster movement. Rebirth builds on the action-focused melee combat and the Active-Time Battle (ATB) system from Final Fantasy VII Remake.
During battles, characters use physical attacks, magic, and items for offense, defense, and healing. The "Synergized" mechanic from a previous DLC is part of Rebirth's battle system, allowing characters to sync up attacks, though it makes ATB bars fill up slower.
