Ghost Ship ending explained
In the latter part of the movie, it becomes clear that Ferriman is working for the devil. Although he spares Maureen Epps' life, he continues to trade souls. In the final scene, he is seen carrying gold crates onto another cruise ship, indicating that he will continue his work of killing passengers and trapping their souls. Meanwhile, Maureen is planting explosives on the ship when she is approached by a crew member who suggests that they could steal the gold and start a new life. She becomes suspicious of him and questions him, only to have him transform into Jack Ferriman's character, whom he had claimed to have killed earlier. Jack offers to spare Maureen's life if she does not interfere with his plans. Despite Jack's offer, Maureen sets off the explosives, causing the ship to sink. With the help of Katie, Maureen manages to escape the sinking ship. She is eventually rescued by a cruise ship, and all the trapped souls are freed as the ship sinks. As Maureen is being transported in an ambulance, she witnesses the crew members loading gold crates onto the cruise ship under the watchful eye of a resurrected Ferriman. She is stunned to see him and he glares at her as the ambulance doors close.

The plot of Ghost Ship
In the film, a ship named SS Antonia Graza is carrying several passengers when an accident occurs, leading to the death of all but one young girl named Katie, who is spared due to her height. Forty years later, Jack Ferriman approaches a salvage crew of five members and informs them that he has located a drifting vessel in the Bering Sea, which they can claim as it is still in international waters. When the crew boards the ship, which has been abandoned for years, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences. After spending some time on board, they realize that the ship is possessed and decide to leave. The protagonist, Maureen Epps, encounters the ghost of Katie, who reveals what had happened on the ship. This information prompts the crew to become desperate to escape the haunted vessel.
