Golden Melody Awards 2023

The Golden Melody Awards (GMA) is a prestigious honor presented by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to recognize exceptional achievements in the Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, and Formosan-languages popular and traditional music industry. Similar to the Grammy Awards in the Chinese-speaking world, the GMAs are bestowed based on votes by a panel of jury members.

The awards have gained significant recognition in the music industry alongside other esteemed accolades like the Golden Bell Awards for television and the Golden Horse Awards for motion pictures. The inaugural Golden Melody Awards took place on January 6, 1990, to celebrate outstanding contributions in popular music production by performers.

After the 1996 ceremony, the Ministry of Culture restructured several award categories for the 1997 edition, splitting the awards into separate honors for popular music and traditional music. Subsequently, in 2007, the two awards ceremonies became distinct events. Notably, since 2014, the Golden Melody Awards for traditional music have been conferred by the National Center for Traditional Arts, another division of the Ministry of Culture.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both the 31st and 32nd editions of the awards ceremony were postponed to October 2020 and August 2021, respectively. However, the 33rd edition made its return at the Kaohsiung Arena in Kaohsiung City on July 2, 2022, after being held in Kaohsiung for the first time since the 16th edition.

The Golden Melody Awards 2023 was a remarkable event that celebrated outstanding achievements in the Taiwanese music industry. Held on July 1 at Taipei Arena, the awards ceremony recognized exceptional talents and their contributions across various categories.
