Henry de Bromhead Son accident: What happened to Henry de Bromhead Son?

On the first day of the Cheltenham Festival, Rachael Blackmore rode Honeysuckle, a horse trained by Henry de Bromhead, to victory in the Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle. It was an emotional win, as it marked Honeysuckle's final race and came months after de Bromhead's son, Jack, tragically passed away at just 13 years old.

Jack died in September after falling from a horse during a beach race in County Kerry, Ireland. The incident was heart-wrenching, and the horse racing community has rallied around de Bromhead and his family since.

After the race, Blackmore paid tribute to Jack, saying, "We all wish a very special kid could be here today but he's watching down on us." De Bromhead, too, spoke about his son and the support his family has received: "I think we have had a terrible year with Jack but the support everyone has given us we are really grateful for that."

Honeysuckle has been one of the most successful horses in de Bromhead's career, with multiple big wins under its belt. Its latest victory at Cheltenham marked its fourth win out of four races at the prestigious event.

De Bromhead was thrilled with the win, calling it a "fairytale ending that doesn't normally happen." Owner Kenny Alexander was similarly ecstatic, saying, "She's not the greatest Champion Hurdler ever but she's one of the bravest. She has guts and is incredibly talented. She had to dig deep today. I am really happy for Henry and his family."

The win was a bittersweet moment for de Bromhead and his family, who continue to grieve the loss of Jack. But in the midst of tragedy, there was a moment of triumph and celebration, and the horse racing world came together to honor Jack's memory and offer support to those he left behind.
