While classes will be a part of the game's story, they are not a scheduled gameplay element. Players can acquire combat items through trading or crafting, which can be used to harm enemies or provide benefits to the player. Players can also tame, care for, and ride magical beasts, such as hippogriffs and thestrals, and interact with other creatures like dragons, trolls, and nifflers. The player character can form relationships with non-player characters in the game, and as these relationships grow, schoolmates will become companions who can accompany the player on their journey and offer unique dialogue options.
