Cult of the Lamb Gameplay

Cult of the Lamb revolves around a lamb who is entrusted with the task of establishing a cult to satisfy the mysterious deity that saved their life. The player embarks on roguelike-style crusades, exploring five distinct regions to defeat enemies and expand their following.

The game world is procedurally generated and incorporates roguelike elements. It offers various resources to gather, perks and weapons to collect, and both rival cultists and non-believers to battle against. The player can also rescue animals, who can be indoctrinated into their cult and possess unique appearances and traits that impact their behavior within the cult.

The player manages their followers in the cult's village, assigning them tasks such as resource gathering, construction, worship, and assisting in battles. The player must meet the followers' needs by conducting sermons, performing rituals, providing food and shelter, and maintaining cleanliness.

Failure to address these needs can lead to dissent and followers leaving the cult. To prevent this, the player can provide for their followers, offer gifts, reeducate them, or even detain them until dissent subsides.

The game features Twitch integration through the "Companion of the Lamb" Twitch extension. Viewers can participate in follower customization through a "Follower Raffle," with their username displayed above the character. Twitch viewers can also contribute channel points through the "Twitch Totem Bar" for random rewards and vote in "Help or Hinder" events, impacting the player's progress.

Cult of the Lamb Plot

In a world filled with false prophets, a Lamb known as Lambert, believed to be the last of its kind, is presented to The Four Bishops of the Old Faith and sacrificed before them. As the Lamb dies, it encounters a deity known as "The One Who Waits," who is imprisoned in chains. The deity tasks the Lamb with starting a cult in its name, grants them a demonic crown, and resurrects them.

With the guidance of Ratau, the Lamb's predecessor, the Lamb establishes a cult at a temple's ruins to challenge and defeat the four other Bishops – Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura – in order to free The One Who Waits.

The Lamb embarks on crusades, defeating each Bishop and expanding the cult's influence and the Lamb's powers. As each Bishop falls, one of the chains binding The One Who Waits is broken, bringing the deity closer to freedom. Throughout the journey, the Lamb encounters the Four Bishops and The One Who Waits.

As the Lamb progresses, The One Who Waits reveals that the Four Bishops had betrayed and imprisoned him, intending to rule the cult and reshape the world. However, during the battle with Shamura, the Lamb learns that The One Who Waits is actually called "Narinder." Shamura discloses that Narinder was the Fifth Bishop, the Lamb's brother and equal, who ruled over the realm of Death. Narinder grew ambitious and dissatisfied with his role, leading to his betrayal and imprisonment by the other Bishops.

After defeating Shamura, The One Who Waits demands that the Lamb visit his realm to return the demonic crown and be sacrificed in his name. With the support of their followers, the Lamb opens the final gateway and confronts The One Who Waits. The Lamb is then faced with the choice of sacrificing themselves to fulfill the prophecy or rejecting it. If the Lamb accepts, The One Who Waits is freed, tortures the Lamb, and ultimately kills them, ending the game.

If the Lamb refuses, a final battle ensues between the Lamb and The One Who Waits's followers, Baal and Aym. Once the followers are defeated, The One Who Waits attempts to kill the Lamb personally. After an initial defeat, The One Who Waits transforms and tries to kill the Lamb once more in a nightmarish realm.

If the Lamb triumphs again, they strip The One Who Waits of power, and it transforms into a follower-like creature named Narinder. Narinder admits defeat and can be spared or killed by the player. Regardless of the choice, the Lamb's followers are saved, and the Lamb returns to their cult, marking the end of the game.
