How to beat the Water Temple in Tears of the Kingdom?

To beat the Water Temple in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players need to navigate through the temple and solve various puzzles to progress. Here are the specific strategies and steps for defeating the temple bosses:

Dungeon Map

  • Familiarize yourself with the layout of the Water Temple using the dungeon map. This will help you understand the various floors and plan your path.

Turn on the four faucets

  • The goal is to activate four faucets to drain the water and progress further. You can complete them in any order you want, but we'll go through them sequentially.

Faucet 1

  • To reach the first faucet, head to the west of the central floor and locate a ramp leading down to the base of the temple on B1.
  • Use the Ultrahand to grab one of the Hover Stone Zonai devices on the other side of the flames. Place it over the flames to create a bridge or use Sidon's ability to shield yourself with water and pass through easily.
  • Once on the other side, deactivate a Hover Stone and place it on the switch to the right of the door, allowing Sidon to join you.
  • Proceed further into the room and drop down to a lower area with a spike-covered floor and a ball at the end.
  • Grab the unactivated Hover Stone, activate it, and place it in the middle of the spiked area.
  • Jump back to the previous platform.
  • Grab the Hover Stone.
  • Move the Hover Stone with the ball on it above you, so it's close to the upper level. Use Ascend to travel up to one of the Hover Stones that were already in place.
  • Move the ball platform until it's on the upper ledge. Jump over to the top level.
  • Take the ball in the center of the Hover Stone to the ball-shaped switch on the left-hand wall, rotate it, and press it in so the Hover Stone holds it in place. This opens up the room to the first switch. Use Sidon's water ability to get the wheel spinning and open the first faucet.

Faucet 2

  • Return to the central area of the temple and head west to the broken bridge leading to the west island.
  • Defeat the Constructs and proceed to the north end of the island.
  • Use Ultrahand to grab the ball out of the water.
  • Clean the muck off the bubble dispenser using splash fruit or Sidon's ability.
  • Put the ball into the first bubble that comes out and let it float over to the upper island. Follow it in the next bubble and let the ball fall into the water.
  • Grab one of the Hover Stones with Ultrahand and bring it to the white gate submerged in water.
  • Stick the activated Hover Stone to the top of the white stone and move the whole thing up with Ultrahand. The stone will hold the gate in place, allowing the water to drain. The ball will fall into the hole and open up the door to the second switch. Use Sidon's water ability to open the second tap.

Faucet 3

  • Return to the middle of the temple and head northeast to a waterfall hole covered in sludge.
  • Shoot a splash fruit arrow at the sludge to reveal the waterfall. Glide towards it and swim up using the Zora Armor.
  • Land on one of the broken platforms and you'll notice bubbles floating down from the sky. When a bubble touches the platform, use Recall to enter it and ride it back up.
  • Hop over to the opposite island and head to the right. You'll see a water wheel with short paddles.
  • Near the water wheel, there's a chest covered in mud containing five arrows. Look down and grab the two white stone slates from the water.
  • Stick each white stone slate on opposite sides of the water wheel, making sure to move one into the water. This will force the wheel to spin and generate electricity.
  • Follow the current and you'll notice that the circuit is broken. Behind the broken circuit, there's a bubble dispenser.
  • Use Ultrahand to grab a bubble from the dispenser and move it into the gap in the circuit. This will allow the bubble to conduct electricity, completing the circuit and opening the gate to the next switch.
  • Use Sidon's water attack to activate the switch and open the third faucet.

Faucet 4

  • The last switch an be seen on the upper island to the south. To reach it, run slightly south and glide down to the lower platform.
  • Defeat the Fire Like enemies and use Ascend to reach the top level. Clear out any Constructs in the area to avoid disturbances.
  • You can spot a spinning block high up a tower in the south. The switch you need to hit is covered in sludge and is moving very fast.
  • Use the Hover Stone devices and Ascend to get high enough to have a clear shot at the switch. Manipulate the low gravity to your advantage.
  • Jump and draw your bow to perform a slow-motion shot with a splash fruit attached. Aim carefully and release the arrow to hit the switch.
  • Repeat the same process without the water hitting the switch again. If you successfully hit the switch, the water from the pool will drain.
  • In the drained pool, there's a chest containing an Opal. However, more importantly, enter the room and activate the final faucet.
  • With all four faucets now turned on, return to the beginning of the temple and touch the Zonai terminal. This will allow the water to flow into the pile of sludge, leading to your next boss battle.

Phase 1

In the initial phase, Mucktorok swims around the arena covered in sludge. Clean off the sludge using Sidon's water attack or water-based items. Watch out for Mucktorok's fast movements and attacks like ramming or firing a muddy laser. Hit it with water twice or once with Sidon's attack to expose the vulnerable octopus. Shoot an arrow to knock it over and attack while it's down. You can also use slow motion and arrows in the low gravity of the Water Temple.

Phase 2

In the second phase, Mucktorok covers the arena with sludge, slowing down your movement. Wash away the sludge with Sidon's water attack or water-based items. Claim a Heart Container and talk to Sidon for historical information. Back in Zora's Domain, Sidon becomes the new king and the Sage of Water. With the Vow of Sidon, you gain his shield ability for added defense.

To activate the four faucets and progress, complete them in any order. For Faucet 1, go west to the base of the temple on B1. Use the Ultrahand to create a bridge or Sidon's water shield to pass through flames. Place a Hover Stone on the switch, drop down, and move the ball platform. Secure the ball in a switch to open the room and use Sidon's water attack to activate the faucet.

For Faucet 2, defeat Constructs, grab a ball, clean the bubble dispenser, and let the ball drain water to open the second switch. Use Sidon's water attack to activate the faucet. For Faucet 3, reveal the waterfall, ride a bubble, place white stone slates on the water wheel, complete the circuit, and activate the third faucet with Sidon's attack. For Faucet 4, reach the upper island, hit the sludge-covered switch, drain the water, and activate the final faucet. With all faucets on, touch the Zonai terminal to let water flow into the sludge for the next boss battle. In Phase 1, clean Mucktorok's sludge with water, dodge its attacks, expose the octopus, and attack when it's vulnerable. In Phase 2, wash away sludge, claim a Heart Container, talk to Sidon, and gain his shield ability as the Sage of Water.
