Earthmover in Ultrakill

The "Earthmover," also known as the Centaur or Benjamin, is a powerful boss in Ultrakill. You encounter it at the end of the Violence layer in level 7-4, called "...LIKE ANTENNAS TO HEAVEN." In earlier levels, like 7-2 and 7-3, you can spot multiple Earthmovers, and one dominates the scenery in the forest of "NO SOUND, NO MEMORY."

The Earthmover is a significant challenge as it serves as both the boss and the entire level in Act 3. Its massive size and imposing presence make it a central focus. Facing the Earthmover can be tough initially, but once I figured out how to defeat it in Ultrakill, it became less intimidating.

How to Defeat Earthmover in Ultrakill?

To beat the Earthmover in Ultrakill, you have two options. The first way involves going through the Earthmover's insides, and the second method lets you skip the interior and head straight to its head.

Go through the Earthmover

  • After leaving the tunnel, use the Whiplash to grapple up the Earthmover's leg. Dash to the first platform leading up its torso, destroying Streetcleaners on the way.
  • Reach the next platform using a jump pad, and continue through subsequent jump pads.
  • Climb a ladder, use grapple points to cross platforms, defeat enemies like Guttertank, and climb the second ladder.
  • Navigate across heated pipes, eliminate enemies inside the machine, and confront the 1000-THR Defence System.
  • After defeating the defense system, climb the elevator and destroy six Idols to access the machine's brain.
  • Avoid the brain's laser grid, punch its projectiles, and destroy the Idols that appear. Escape the interior within 80 seconds.

Fly to the Earthmover's head

  • Use the Rocket Launcher to shoot rockets and the Whiplash to grab them, propelling yourself upwards.
  • Repeat this process to ascend to the top of the Earthmover.
  • Touch its head to destroy it. Drop down to the jump pad at the level's end to finish.

Choose the method that suits your playstyle, either navigating through the Earthmover or taking a shortcut to its head using rockets.

Ultrakill Gameplay

In "Ultrakill," the gameplay unfolds across levels inspired by Dante's layers of Hell, divided into a prelude and three acts. Each act has multiple layers with different levels, and a boss battle awaits at the end of each layer. The main foe is the Archangel Gabriel.

Players can choose from six weapons, each with various forms and alternate versions, allowing for stylish combos and actions. A unique feature is the ability to regain health by absorbing the blood of enemies, performed through damaging or killing them.

However, certain conditions, like enemies covered in sand, can affect this. At the end of each level, players receive grades based on time, enemies defeated, and style points, aiming for the highest rank, P. The game includes hidden collectibles, challenges, and secret levels that deviate from the usual gameplay.

By achieving P ranks and discovering secret entrances, players can access Prime Sanctums, facing formidable bosses. "Ultrakill" also offers an endless mode called "The Cyber Grind," where players combat waves of enemies in changing arenas, earning points to customize weapons and colors.
