Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a video game made by Square and Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1996. It's the last Mario game for SNES. The story follows Mario and friends as they try to stop the Smithy Gang, who crashed into their world and scattered seven star pieces. This game is the first in the Mario series with role-playing gameplay, inspired by Square's Final Fantasy. In battles, you take turns fighting enemies with a party of up to three characters.

It's also the first Mario game with a 3D environment, adding new exploration and platforming elements. Super Mario RPG got great reviews for its humor and 3D graphics. It inspired other Mario RPGs like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. Originally on SNES, it later came to the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles, as well as the Super NES Classic Edition. Recently, a remake for the Nintendo Switch was released worldwide on November 17, 2023, and it received positive reviews.

Jinx in Super Mario RPG

Jinx is a character in the game "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars." He is a martial arts master who runs a dojo in Monstro Town. Despite his small size, Jinx is incredibly powerful. Visiting the dojo is optional in the game, but if Mario chooses to enter, Jinx's student, Jagger, challenges the party. Upon defeating Jagger, Jinx himself appears and can be fought.

Jinx can be defeated up to three times in progressively tougher battles, each time becoming stronger with higher attack, defense, and HP stats. In the second and third fights, he introduces new moves like Quicksilver and Bombs Away, making the battles more challenging.

After winning the third fight, Jinx rewards Mario and his allies with the Jinx Belt, a symbol of his power to be worn by the highest-ranking member. Jinx then declares Mario the new Sensei of the dojo, naming it the "Mario Style Dojo," and he gives up his title. Despite this, Mario is never shown directly instructing at the dojo.

Jinx's character influenced the creation of the Master in "Paper Mario." Both Jinx and the Master are optional martial arts-themed bosses in their respective games, fought in three progressively challenging battles. They also have students (Jagger for Jinx, and Chan and Lee for the Master) who are battled before them.

In certain situations, like the battle against the Wizakoopa brainwashed by the Smithy Gang, Jinx may create a Jinx Clone to defend himself. Additionally, a sprite of Jinx is found in the data of the E3 2003 demo of "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

How to Defeat Jinx in Super Mario RPG?

Super Mario RPG" is a game where Mario faces various challenges, and one of them is a battle against Jinx, the final form of Mario's student in Monstro Town. Jinx wants to learn about Triple Moves, and when you defeat him, you receive the Teamwork Band, which speeds up the rate your Action Gauge builds.

To defeat Jinx, your main goal is to maintain a continuous Attack Chain for as long as possible. However, be cautious as Jinx has instant kill moves. He can use Silver Bullet from behind or a powerful shoulder charge from the front, both capable of instantly defeating your characters.

To increase your chances of success, bring party members with reliable physical attacks. Equip the Enduring Brooch on at least one member (obtained from the Bundt fight) and use the Jinx Belt or Quartz Charm on others for resistance against instant kill attacks.

During the battle, focus on keeping your Attack Chain going and revive any fallen party members. Eventually, you'll survive long enough to unleash a Triple Move, ending the fight. As a reward, you'll receive the Teamwork Band, enhancing the speed at which your Action Gauge fills. This encounter with Jinx is part of the game "Super Mario RPG," adding excitement and challenge to Mario's adventure. After defeating Jinx, you'll move on to the final showdown against Culex

Super Mario RPG Gameplay

In Super Mario RPG, the gameplay is a mix of classic Mario platforming and traditional Japanese role-playing elements. The game has two main parts: exploring the world and turn-based battles. When not in battles, the game looks like a 3D platformer with Mario doing familiar things like hitting question blocks. Unlike some RPGs, there are no surprise fights; you can see enemies on the map, and you only battle them if you touch them. This lets you avoid fights you don't want.

At the beginning, you control Mario, but your party grows to include up to five characters, each with unique skills. For example, Princess Toadstool can heal, while Geno and Bowser focus on powerful attacks. The battles are turn-based, where you choose actions like attacking or using items. What's cool is the "action commands," where you time button presses to make moves more effective. This mix of Mario-style exploration and RPG battles makes Super Mario RPG a unique and fun game.
