What Is Dark and Darker?

How To Extract Dark And Darker?
"Extracting" in Dark And Darker refers to leaving the level unscathed, taking all the loot accumulated during the run. Unlike other similar games, the extraction points in Dark And Darker are randomly placed and indicated by a Blue Headstone that rises from the ground. You'll also hear a distinct sound effect (similar to rumbling rocks) when an extraction point is nearby. To use the Headstone, simply press the "F" key on your keyboard and a blue portal will open, allowing you to exit the level.

In the initial playtest of Dark and Darker, only two maps were available, but the developers added another map for players to play solo. If this happens, the player can make their way to the portal and activate it but must be careful as activation takes 5 seconds and leaves the player vulnerable. As a rogue, activation takes 3 seconds. Keep in mind, there may be other players waiting to steal the portal, so be cautious of your surroundings. The game's tooltip also mentions that it may be wise to wait for someone else to activate the portal first and then steal it. Blue Portals also serve as prime ambush locations for PvP encounters. Rogues can hide and wait for an unsuspecting player to activate the portal, then strike with poisoned weapons, steal their loot, and escape through the portal.
