Acquiring a horse in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is a straightforward process. To obtain one, you simply need to progress through the game until Day 1 of Summer in Chapter one. Around 11 am, Takakura will invite you to the barn, where he will introduce you to your new horse.
If, for some reason, Takakura does not purchase your horse at this stage, make sure to place an item in the Shipping Bin, and he will buy it the following day.
Once you have your horse, there are a couple of initial steps before you can begin riding it. First, you need to select its color (more details below) and give it a name. Once these formalities are complete, you are free to explore the valley on horseback!
While bonding with your horse by feeding, brushing, talking, and cuddling it will increase its friendship level, there are no additional benefits to doing so. It's worth noting that your horse, like all other animals in the game, cannot die.
