Insomniac Games made the game, and Sony Interactive Entertainment published it. This game is the third one in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, and it's like a follow-up to the 2018 Marvel's Spider-Man game. It continues the story from the DLC expansion called The City That Never Sleeps and the separate game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales from 2020.
There's also a comic that came out on May 1, 2023, which is like a story before the game's release. The game was released on the PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023. It was developed by Insomniac Games and published by PlayStation. This action-adventure game is all about the famous Spider-Man.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Game Play
In Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the gameplay explores various parts of New York City, not just Manhattan, including Queens, Brooklyn, and Coney Island. You can play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and they each have unique abilities. Peter has different suit powers that make him better at fighting and taking on lots of bad guys at once, while Miles can turn invisible with Camouflage and use his venom blast. They both have a Focus system, and Miles brings his Bio Electric Venom Power into the mix.
Traversal, or how they move around the city, has improved since the first game. They can swing forward using their webs like slingshots, which makes them move faster. Plus, their suits now have "Web Wings" that let them glide. They also get new gadgets, like a web that turns into a tightrope and a mine that can bring several enemies together, helping to take them out all at once. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Plot
In the story, Peter Parker starts working as a teacher at Miles Morales' school. They face an attack by a man named Flint Marko, and together, they stop him. However, Peter loses his job for leaving his class. He moves to his Aunt May's home in Queens after her passing. Meanwhile, Harry Osborn, who was very sick, surprisingly gets better and offers Peter a job at his new project to make the world better.
Peter and Miles encounter trouble when they witness Kraven the Hunter capturing super-powered people. Kraven wants to hunt them for sport, and he kills some of them. Felicia Hardy, one of these individuals, gets their help to escape. Later, Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry visit Coney Island and see Kraven's hunters attacking. Harry reveals he was cured by a black symbiote that gives him powers. As his powers grow, Harry decides to help Peter and even saves him with the symbiote. But this symbiote begins to affect Peter, making him more aggressive.
After Peter and Harry save Curt Connors, Kraven turns him into a monster, and Peter gets badly hurt. The symbiote saves him, but he starts wearing it, and Kraven becomes interested in hunting him. Meanwhile, Miles gets captured by Kraven and is forced to fight Martin Li. Despite his anger, Miles helps Li escape and directs him to find Peter. They eventually locate Miles, and he persuades Peter to get rid of the symbiote.
They take the symbiote to Oscorp to destroy it, but Harry, who's very ill again, intercepts them and becomes Venom. He wants to "heal the world" with symbiotes and starts with New York. Peter and Miles try to stop the invasion, and Peter gets infected by another symbiote. With Miles and Li's help, he manages to control it. Mary Jane destroys the meteorite that brought the symbiote to Earth, getting rid of all the symbiotes, including Venom.
After the chaos, Harry is saved but in a coma. Mary Jane starts her own podcast, moves in with Peter, and takes a break from being Spider-Man to focus on the Emily-May Foundation. Norman Osborn pressures Otto Octavius for Spider-Man's identity. Octavius refuses, enjoying Osborn's distress. Meanwhile, Miles meets his mom's new boyfriend and his daughter, Cindy.
