How to Install Mods in Ready or Not?

Installing mods in Ready or Not is pretty straightforward. You've got two main ways to do it: using the in-game mod browser or getting mods from Nexusmods. If you're using the in-game mod browser, it's a lot like using Steam Workshop. Just pick a mod you like and hit subscribe. Sometimes, especially if it's your first time using this, they might ask for your email for verification. If that happens, just enter your email and the code they send you.

Once you've subscribed to a mod, it's automatically downloaded and installed. After that, just restart your game to make sure the mod works. All the mods you've got will show up in the Collections tab in the mod browser, so you can easily turn them on or off. Now, if you're getting mods from Nexusmods, it's a bit more hands-on. Most of the time, you'll need to install these manually. That means downloading the mod files and putting them in Ready or Not's Content folder. Usually, you'll find this folder in a place like "C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonReady Or NotReadyOrNotContentPaks". Once you've pasted the mod files here, they should be picked up by the game.

Without a mod manager, it's not as easy to manage these mods as the ones from the in-game browser. If you want to disable a Nexusmods mod, you'll have to delete the .pak file itself. Mods can sometimes clash with other players' games. So, if you're playing with friends and using mods, it might cause some issues. To fix this, everyone should either turn off the server-side checksum setting in the Options menu or make sure everyone has the same mods installed.

Mods in Ready or Not

In Ready or Not, mods are like extra add-ons that players create to change or add things to the game. You get a bunch of cool stuff when you start playing, like weapons and maps, but mods give you even more. People in the game's community make these mods, adding new guns, different looks for characters, new game situations, and lots more. Mods can change how the game looks or works, and each mod might need its own way to be added to the game. It's like getting a whole bunch of extra stuff that you can add to your game to make it more fun or interesting.

Ready or Not

"Ready or Not" is a video game where you become a part of a SWAT team, kind of like the police. It's a tactical first-person shooter game, meaning you'll be using strategies and thinking carefully about how to approach different situations. The game is set in a made-up city called Los Sueños in California, where there's a lot of crime happening.

This game came out in different stages. First, it was available on Steam early access in December 2021. Then, it fully released in December 2023. People who played it liked the feeling of the game and how it plays. They said it feels a lot like the old SWAT games from a company called Sierra Entertainment, which many folks enjoyed. The game got attention for its atmosphere and the way it makes players think about how they approach different situations in the game.

Ready or Not Gameplay

"Ready or Not" is all about being part of a SWAT team and taking down bad guys. In this game, you play as David "Judge" Beaumont, the leader of the team. You've got a bunch of cool guns to choose from: rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, and pistols. You can make them totally your own by adding scopes, attachments, and even silencers. You've also got gadgets like stun grenades and shields to help you out.

Since you're a cop, it's not just about blasting away. The game wants you to catch the bad guys alive. That means you've got options like tasers and pepper spray to take them down without causing too much harm. And when you arrest them instead of knocking them out, you get more points. But it's not always easy—the non-lethal stuff can sometimes cause unintended harm. When you deal with suspects, it's a smart move to handcuff them. Sometimes they'll fake being out cold and then try to surprise you, so you've got to be careful. The game advises you to aim at the body's center if you have to use lethal force.

Ready or Not Development

The journey of making "Ready or Not" began way back in June 2016. They got folks excited by showing off a trailer on YouTube in May 2017, giving everyone a taste of what was coming. But before the big release, they let a special group of supporters try out an early version of the game in August 2019.

Then, things got even more exciting in April 2020 when they invited these supporters and some YouTubers to test out a special part of the game where players face off against each other. They could share what they saw and got players even more pumped up. Finally, the game hit the scene on Steam Early Access on December 17, 2021. They made some major changes for this final release.

They worked on improving the non-lethal gear, paying more attention to the mental health of the cops in the game, and making different law enforcement teams work together better. Plus, they made the cops in the game have more unique personalities. In this final version, the computer-controlled characters got smarter. They can now do things on their own, like catch suspects and find cover, without needing players to give them constant instructions just like in the old SWAT 3 game.
