Pacific Drive is a survival game. You explore the Pacific Northwest either on foot or in a car. There are metal monsters trying to grab onto your car. You can fix up and change your car in your garage. The game is seen from a first-person view like you're really there.
The idea for Pacific Drive came from Alexander Dracott while he was driving around the Olympic Peninsula. He started working on it in 2019 with his team at Ironwood Studios. They announced the game in 2022 and it came out in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Windows computers.
People liked the game's mood, characters, and how you can change your car. But some found the game a bit repetitive and hard.
Pacific Drive Gameplay
Pacific Drive is a game where you try to survive in a dangerous place called the Olympic Exclusion Zone. You can fix up and change your car in your garage, which is like your home base. You use a special headset to check your car's health and fix any problems it has, like a horn that goes off when you turn the wheel.
Sometimes, you can do simple fixes while driving, like changing a flat tire or using a blowtorch to mend things. But for bigger fixes, you need to go back to your garage. In your garage, you can also make new things using an Inventing Station, like machines that help you find new paths, add fuel to your car, or mess with the area you're in.
While you're out exploring, your car can get attacked by metal monsters that chew on it. You have to use a buzzsaw to get rid of them. There are also other dangers like electrical problems and barriers that mess with your electronics.
As you travel, you can find new places to explore and discover ways to make your car better. You can also find notes and talk to other characters to help you escape the dangerous zone.
In each level, you collect energy cores to open gateways that take you back to your garage. But be careful, because doing this makes the world even more dangerous, with more enemies and storms that can harm you.
