Can you see Friend Activity on Spotify?
Spotify's 'Friend Activity' feature is currently only available on desktops, but the company is working to bring it to mobile devices. Surprisingly, a social feature like Friend Activity isn't already available on mobile. However, in June of this year, TechCrunch confirmed that Spotify is developing a new 'Community' tab for its mobile apps. This section will allow users to see their friends' real-time listening activity as well as any playlists they've recently updated.
Although the Community tab is not yet directly accessible in the Spotify app, screenshots of the feature were shared on Twitter by Chris Messina. The Community tab will display 'Playlist Updates' in a horizontally scrolling bar at the top, while the 'Listening now' activity is vertically scrollable on the same page. If a friend is currently listening to a specific track, it will be indicated by music equalizer bars next to their name. If not, users will see a timestamp next to their friend's last streamed track on Spotify. With the Community tab, Spotify users on mobile devices will be able to stay connected with their friends' music tastes in real time.
How to See Friend Activity on Spotify?
To display Friend Activity, go to Settings in your Spotify desktop app by clicking on the Arrow down icon at the top.
Under the Display section, you will see a toggle switch labeled "See what your friends are playing".
To show Friend Activity, toggle the switch to the "on" position. To hide it, toggle the switch to the "off" position.

How to Hide Friend Activity on Spotify?
To hide the Friend Activity panel on the Spotify desktop, launch Spotify and click the X icon located in the upper-right corner of the panel.
Clicking the X icon will close the panel and provide more space for musical artist information.
Alternatively, you can click the three-dot button in the top-right corner and select View. Then, uncheck Friend Activity from the menu to hide the panel.
It's important to note that using the X option only closes the Friend Activity panel. To show it again, you must use the menu bar option.
