Hunt Showdown

Developed and published by Crytek, Hunt: Showdown is a first-person shooter video game that first launched on Steam as early access on February 22, 2018, and on Xbox Game Preview on May 29, 2019. The game was officially released on August 27, 2019, for Microsoft Windows, followed by Xbox One on September 19, 2019, and PlayStation 4 on February 18, 2020. Players take on the role of a bounty hunter tasked with defeating a mythical monster to claim a bounty and make it to an extraction point alive.

Originally titled Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, the game was being developed by Crytek USA as a cooperative multiplayer game meant to serve as a spiritual successor to the Darksiders series. However, after Crytek USA was shut down due to financial difficulties, development was moved to Germany where it was re-announced in May 2017 as Hunt: Showdown. The game became a competitive multiplayer experience where players fight against other players and enemies controlled by AI in a large map that resembles an open world. Hunt: Showdown has received positive reviews for its innovative gameplay loop.

New Weapon Update

Another addition to the game are new weapon variants, which can be unlocked by completing tasks within the new questlines. These weapons and their variants will be added to Hunt Showdown's regular unlock grid after the questlines expire.

The Winfield M1876 Centennial Shorty has been modified with a silencer, resulting in a shortened version of the Centennial model. This firearm utilizes medium-sized ammunition, with a capacity of 5+1 rounds and an additional 12 rounds in reserve. While the Shorty with a silencer still possesses a stronger recoil, both the recoil and the silencer have been slightly weakened in terms of power

.New Tutorial update  for Players

  • A new tutorial has been created by Crytek for Hunt Showdown in Update 1.12, aimed at helping new players get started with the game more easily. While an earlier tutorial was available, it was not immersive or detailed enough for the developers' liking. The tutorial is split into two parts: the Basic Tutorial covers the fundamentals of the game, including controls, HUD, weapons, and indicators, while the Advanced Tutorial provides additional information about compounds and each AI enemy in the game.
  •  Furthermore, the tutorial is now fully voiced, with veteran hunter John Victor, played by Doug Cockle, guiding players through their initial steps in the bayou. Additionally, legendary items and skins are now categorized as skins in the equipment menu, and players can easily switch between them when selecting a weapon. The last skin chosen for a weapon or equipment is saved as the default, but contraband, unlocked, or dirty weapons cannot be skinned.

Gameplay Changes update

  • Hunt Update 1.12 introduces a new Combat Log which provides more detailed information about the events during the game, including damage dealt and received. Players can now easily understand the reason for their victories or defeats. Additionally, the log includes events such as healing, picking up clues, and banishing bosses, all with specific timestamps.
  • To help players, whether they are beginners or experts, Crytek has updated the weapon statistics by adding more points and exchanging certain icons. This provides a clear and concise overview of each weapon's strengths and weaknesses
  • Crytek has implemented balance adjustments for solo players in Hunt Update 1.12.
  • The traits Necromancer, Magpie, and Serpent have been given additional effects to help solo players have a fairer and more balanced gameplay experience. For example, Necromancer allows players to revive themselves once within 10 seconds of their death, and Magpie provides all three effects (Regeneration, Stamina, and Antidote) in addition to a 200% Darksight boost and 200% received boost on Loot and Clues boost. Serpent's maximum range for interactions has also been increased from 25 meters to 50 meters
  • .Solo players who face teams will receive a higher reward than before. The underdog bonus has been adjusted to provide an even fatter reward for solo players who face Duo or Trio teams.
  • Crytek has made adjustments to the Weeping Stone Mill section, including the addition of a walkway leading away from the complex to avoid water. The main building has been expanded to make room for new stairs, and a new entrance behind the water wheel has been added. The basement area has been made more open and expanded with new assets.

 Hunt Showdown Engine Update

Crytek developers have recently revealed plans to upgrade the engine for Hunt: Showdown, which is a rare occurrence. This news is likely to please players as it will lead to significant improvements in the game's graphics and performance, attracting both new and current fans to continue playing. David Fifield, the general manager of Crytek, expressed his curiosity about the game's potential growth in population and engagement, although he cautioned that the technical upgrades will take some time to implement.
