Hunt Showdown

Hunt: Showdown, a remarkable first-person shooter experience developed by Crytek, made its debut on Steam as an early access title on the 22nd of February, 2018. The game also became available on Xbox Game Preview on the 29th of May, 2019.

Following this successful testing phase, the full-fledged version of Hunt: Showdown was officially launched on the 27th of August, 2019, exclusively for Microsoft Windows. Shortly after, it expanded its reach to Xbox One on the 19th of September, 2019, and eventually, on the 18th of February, 2020, it arrived on the PlayStation 4 platform.

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Hunt: Showdown, where you step into the shoes of a daring bounty hunter. Your mission is to take down awe-inspiring mythical beasts, claiming their lucrative bounties while simultaneously evading the threats posed by rival bounty hunters. With danger lurking around every corner, your survival instincts will be put to the ultimate test as you strive to reach the extraction point.

The origins of this exceptional game trace back to the creative minds at Crytek USA, who envisioned crafting a spiritual successor to the renowned Darksiders franchise – a series masterfully developed by their forerunner, Vigil Games. Under the working title "Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age," the project was conceived as a thrilling cooperative multiplayer experience.

However, in a twist of fate, financial challenges led to the closure of Crytek USA after the initial announcement in June of 2014. Yet, the phoenix of innovation rose from the ashes as the development baton was passed on to Crytek's headquarters in Germany.

In May 2017, the rebirth of the project was unveiled, now known as "Hunt: Showdown." This transformation shifted the gameplay dynamics, turning it into an exhilarating competitive multiplayer journey. Players are not only pitted against each other but also face formidable adversaries controlled by sophisticated artificial intelligence, all within the expansive and immersive setting of a vast open world.

The game's release was met with widespread acclaim, as it introduced a fresh and innovative gameplay loop that set it apart from the crowd.

Hunt Showdown Gameplay

In the thrilling realm of Hunt: Showdown, players will encounter hordes of zombie-like foes, known as grunts, as they delve into heart-pounding multiplayer first-person shooter action featuring two distinct gameplay modes. The first mode, aptly named "Bounty Hunt," places players in the shoes of valiant bounty hunters, assigned to track down and vanquish one or two of the game's five formidable bosses in pursuit of a lucrative bounty.

These hunters can embark on this perilous quest alone or join forces with up to two companions, pooling their skills to unearth vital clues about the elusive monster's whereabouts across three diverse maps. Each of these meticulously designed maps unfolds as a medium-sized open world teeming with environmental hazards and additional adversaries, including the menacing Grunts, ominous Hives, and well-armored Armoreds.

As hunters accumulate more clues, the once vast possibilities for the monster's hideout gradually narrow down, heightening the sense of suspense and urgency. Among the five terrifying monsters lurking in the shadows are the ferocious Butcher, the eerie Spider, the elusive Assassin, the fearsome Scrapbeak, and the unpredictable Wildcard, known as Rotjaw.

Armed with an array of deadly weapons, ranging from trusty shotguns to skillful crossbows, players must exhibit precision and caution, for ammunition is scarce, emphasizing the need to make each shot count. In their arsenal, hunters also wield a diverse array of tools, including cunning traps and alluring decoys, adding strategic depth to their approach.

Once the monstrous quarry falls before their might, players must cling to survival as they make their way to one of the randomly placed extraction points, securing their hard-earned bounty.Yet, the chase is not without its twists, for claiming a bounty grants players partial insight into the approximate positions of nearby rivals, but it also exposes their own location to all others on the in-game map.

In this cutthroat world, daring hunters may seize a bounty by eliminating its current possessor, an integral strategic element that adds to the tension and cunning tactics. Each riveting match supports up to 12 players, ensuring fierce competition and heart-stopping encounters.

The game's second mode, "Soul Survivor," which was previously known as "Quickplay," offers a gripping battle royale experience with a time limit of 15 minutes. Players begin with meager equipment, choosing between a low-grade pistol, a rudimentary shotgun, or a basic melee weapon.

Their mission is to locate four Rifts scattered across the map, akin to the Clues in "Bounty Hunt," and activate the mysterious Wellspring. As they traverse the treacherous terrain, players can scavenge for superior gear and weapons, arming themselves to the teeth.

Once a player activates the fourth Rift, they become the Wellspring Carrier, thrust into a fierce struggle for survival against other relentless players. Victory in "Soul Survivor" can be achieved by either being the last one standing or by gradually depleting the Wellspring over time.

The triumphant survivor has the unique opportunity to recruit their hard-won Soul Survivor, along with all their acquired traits and equipment, to take on the daunting challenges of the "Bounty Hunt" mode once more.

Hunt Showdown Plot

Venture into the gripping realm of Hunt: Showdown, an adrenaline-pumping competitive first-person PvP experience enriched with immersive PvE aspects, masterfully crafted by the creators of Crysis. Embark on a heart-stopping journey to the most shadowy and forsaken corners of the world, where the intensity of survival games converges with the structure of thrilling match-based gameplay.

As a daring member of a clandestine hunting society, you and your trusted partner take on the formidable task of tracking down and exterminating monstrous creatures. The rewards for success are nothing short of astronomical, but be warned, the dangers lurking in the darkness are equally colossal. Armed with your skills and weaponry, you must navigate through a treacherous and eerie world, where every step brings you closer to either victory or oblivion.

The stakes are high, and the odds are stacked against you. Only one hunter or hunter duo can emerge victorious, claiming the coveted bounty and the spoils that come with it. Failure is a grim prospect, leading you straight into the depths of hellish defeat. Survival hinges on your ability to outwit and outmaneuver both the menacing creatures and rival hunters in this cutthroat landscape.

In Hunt: Showdown, the thrill of the hunt is palpable, as each match becomes a pulse-pounding test of skill, courage, and cunning. With the ever-present specter of danger and the alluring promise of untold riches, you must embrace the hunt or risk being hunted yourself.
