Starring Willem Dafoe, Gene Bervoets, and Eliza Stuyck, the film explores the intricate workings of the human mind and the horrors that can manifest within it.

The story follows a renowned psychiatrist named Dr. David Carter (Willem Dafoe), who is haunted by a patient he failed to help years ago. Eliza Stuyck plays the role of Dr. Carter's daughter, who is also a psychiatrist and becomes increasingly concerned about her father's mental state as he becomes more and more obsessed with Michael's case.

Inside Ending Explained

Nemo had spent years constructing his tower, a masterpiece that reflected his life experiences. He had poured his heart and soul into every detail, from the intricate engravings on the walls to the delicate glass panel of the skylight. As he climbed up the tower for the last time, he knew that this would be the end of his journey.

The glass panel of the skylight suddenly crashed to the ground, shattering into a million pieces. Nemo stood frozen for a moment, staring at the broken shards below. The ending of Inside was open to interpretation. Did Nemo escape or did he give up on his life after building the masterpiece out of his lived experience?

On one hand, the fact that Nemo managed to unscrew the glass panel suggested that he had finally found a way out. He had spent so much time trapped within the walls of his tower, and now he had finally broken free. The shattered glass could symbolize the shattered constraints that had held him back for so long.

On the other hand, the broken glass could represent Nemo's final act of surrender. He had poured everything he had into the tower, and now that it was complete, there was nothing left for him to do. He had achieved his goal, but at what cost? Perhaps he had given up on life, unable to find meaning beyond his tower.

Either way, the ending of Inside was a powerful reminder of the human experience. We all strive to create something meaningful in our lives, something that reflects who we are and what we stand for. But what happens when we achieve that goal? Do we keep pushing forward, or do we give up and let go?

Nemo's story reminds us that the journey is just as important as the destination. It's the struggle, the challenges, and the setbacks that make us who we are. And even when we reach our goals, there is always more to explore, more to discover, and more to create.

Inside Plot

Nemo, an art thief with a troubled past, shares a story from his childhood that reveals his unconventional values. When asked by a teacher to choose three things to save in a house fire, Nemo opted for his cat, an AC/DC record, and his sketchbook, rather than his family. Nemo acknowledges that the cat died and he lost the record, but he still has the sketchbook because "art is for keeps."

The story then shifts to the present day, where Nemo is disguised as a handyman breaking into a Manhattan high-rise penthouse owned by a wealthy art collector. His goal is to steal three works by Egon Schiele, but he is unable to find Schiele's self-portrait. When he attempts to leave, the apartment's security system triggers and seals the apartment, leaving Nemo trapped inside.

His contacts abandon him, and Nemo is left to struggle with the heat and cold, as the thermostat malfunctions. He has no food or water, except for timed sprinklers in an indoor garden. During his time trapped, Nemo watches a pigeon become trapped in the bird netting over the apartment's patio, starve, and die.

The story is a poignant reflection on the consequences of our choices and actions. Nemo's selection of his cat, record, and sketchbook over his family in a hypothetical fire speaks to his detachment from his loved ones and his obsession with material objects. While he values art, his actions as an art thief reveal a disregard for the emotional and cultural significance of the works he steals.

As he struggles to survive in the penthouse, Nemo is confronted with the consequences of his actions, and the death of the pigeon becomes a metaphor for the destruction and loss that can result from greed and selfishness.
