Iratta ending explained

John and Bineesh provided truthful alibis, but Sandeep did not. He claimed to have been in the washroom when Vinod was killed, but in reality, he was having an affair with a colleague in the ladies' restroom. During their investigation, Pramod and his team noticed that the cell holding a suspect for drug possession was unlocked, and he had taken advantage of the situation to dispose of the evidence before locking himself back in. The autopsy results suggested that Vinod had shot himself, which seemed like a dead end, but Pramod found a witness in a young boy who had seen the shooting while playing cricket. The boy's testimony confirmed that Vinod had indeed committed suicide, but the reason for it remained a mystery. The answer came to light during a television singing competition, in which Pramod's estranged daughter was a contestant. Bineesh confirmed that she was the same girl they had encountered in a motel, and Vinod had recognized her as his sister-in-law's daughter. Unable to bear the guilt of his crime, he took his own life. Pramod, who had kept his identity a secret from his daughter due to the painful connection to his twin brother, shatters a mirror in anger upon learning the truth. "Iratta" concludes with this shocking revelation.

Iratta movie review and rating

The conclusion of "Iratta" is so unusual that it bears resemblance to "Shutter Island," where the ultimate twist occurs mere minutes before the film concludes. There is no epilogue to give viewers more information; we are only left with the fate of the protagonist, who must now fend for himself alone, knowing that there is no other way out. Although Pramod tried to do the right thing by reconciling with his wife and daughter after years apart, he is now forced to live alone for the sake of his daughter, given the unfortunate fact that he shares his twin brother's face, who committed a heinous crime. The screenplay is tightly crafted, leaving no room for subplots to detract from the film's pace. Rohit M.G. Krishnan's screenplay keeps the story moving forward, and the editing is smooth, alternating between past events and the current state of the investigation. The only regrettable aspect is that the writers did not explore the reasons behind the deteriorating relationship between Vinod and Pramod, which caused their mutual hatred to intensify with no chance of reconciliation. Pramod's character is fully realized in the end. The direction is seamless, and Joju George delivers exceptional performances as both Vinod and Pramod, with the difficult task of playing two distinct characters who share the same face. George effortlessly conveys arrogance, anger, ego, pain, resentment, and hope for change, leading viewers to empathize with both Vinod and Pramod. "Iratta" is one of those films that will linger in one's mind for some time, similar to the "Oor Iravu" segment of "Paava Kadhaigal" on Netflix, as it is emotionally charged and disturbing.
