Is Alan Wake 2 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
As of now, Alan Wake 2 is not planned to be available on Xbox Game Pass. Players can purchase the game directly for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC. However, it's possible that this could change in the future, as other games from Remedy like CrossFireX and Control were eventually added to Game Pass after their initial release. In July 2018, the CEO of Remedy, Tero Virtala, said that making more Alan Wake games needed approval from Microsoft Studios, who owned the publishing rights. But Remedy still had all the other rights to the series. In July 2019, Remedy got all the rights to Alan Wake from Microsoft by paying about €2.5 million. This helped make a sequel possible.
In 2020, Remedy joined up with Epic Games Publishing to release two games. The first was Alan Wake Remastered in October 2021, and the big game they announced at the Game Awards 2021 was Alan Wake II. They also planned to add free extra content and two paid expansions called Night Springs and Lake House after the main game came out.
Then in May 2023, they said Alan Wake II would only be available as a digital download. They thought many players now prefer to buy games online, so they wanted to keep the price low. They also didn't want people to have to download extra stuff if they got a physical copy. Later, in August 2023, they pushed back the release date by ten days, so now it's coming out on October 27, 2023.

In Alan Wake II, the gameplay is different from the first game. It's a survival horror game where you see the character from the outside, not from their view. You can play as either Alan Wake or Saga Anderson in two separate stories. You can choose which story to play first, but some parts can only be played as Saga or as Alan.
Both characters move through different places and fight enemies using guns and a flashlight. Shining the flashlight on enemies weakens them, but it uses up the battery. You have to be careful with how you use batteries and bullets to stay alive. When enemies get close, Alan or Saga can quickly dodge out of the way.
There's a detective part in the game, too. When you play as Saga, you can pause the game and go to a special place in her mind called the "Mind Place". It's like a 3D menu where you see what's in Saga's thoughts. Here, you can connect clues on a pin board to solve the main mystery and learn about the characters.
Just like in the first game, you find pages of a manuscript that give hints about what's coming next. But in Alan Wake II, there's also a system where you can choose what to say in conversations, which affects how the story goes.
