Arthur Muhammad's BET film Bid For Love, which premiered in June 2022, features Sasha as the protagonist who faces imprisonment for her ex-boyfriend's drug-trafficking activities after getting injured. After serving her sentence, Sasha is determined to turn her life around and begins a new job in real estate, with the help of Malik, who showers her with gifts.
Initially, Sasha is grateful for Malik's support and generosity but soon realizes that he has ulterior motives. Malik uses Sasha's criminal past and gifts to manipulate and isolate her from her loved ones. However, Sasha's family and friends intervene and help her see through Malik's deceitful ways, preventing her from reverting to her old habits.

The inspiration for the BET film Bid For Love comes from the real-life story of playwright Lawainna Patterson, which has been adapted into several theater productions. As the project's executive producer, Lawainna successfully convinced Arthur Muhammad to direct the film, bringing the story to the screen for the first time. Jayda Cheaves, who plays the lead role in Bid For Love, initially tried the traditional route of attending acting classes to prepare for the role. However, she found the experience unhelpful and decided to coach herself by looking in the mirror and embodying the character. Although she didn't get the chance to meet the real-life person her character is based on, she did meet the woman whose story inspired the film. According to Cheaves, the woman confirmed that everything depicted in the film had actually happened in real life, including the character of Juvie, who was based on someone she met in a halfway house.

Arthur Muhammad, a writer, producer, and director from Dallas, is set to debut his latest feature film Bid for Love on BET+ on June 23. The movie stars Tami Roman, Dawn Halfkenny, and Blue Kimble. The film is loosely based on the life story of executive producer Lawainna Patterson, and it follows Sasha (Halfkenny) who falls in love with Malik (Adrian Lockett) after being released from prison. However, Malik starts manipulating Sasha and tries to alienate her from her loved ones. Sasha's therapist (Roman) helps her avoid the same mistakes that landed her in prison during her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend Memphis (Kimble).

Muhammad expressed his excitement to work with Dawn Halfkenny again, who is also from Texas. Muhammad has previously worked on other film projects such as Carter High and First Impression, and he is currently involved in post-production on Recession Proof and in production on No Better Love. He is also working on a horror film called TWELVE while pursuing his MFA. Bid for Love was produced by Sisters of Freedom, and the writers on the project were Erick S. Gray and N'Tyse. The production wrapped up in June 2021.
