Professional Career of Darnell Nurse
In the 2011 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection, Nurse was chosen as the third overall pick by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He played for the Greyhounds for two seasons before being selected as the seventh overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. After being signed to a three-year, entry-level contract by the Oilers on July 25, Nurse returned to play for the Greyhounds during the 2013-14 season, where he was given the honor of team captain prior to the season.
Nurse had a highly productive season with the Greyhounds, scoring 50 points in 64 games, which was a career-high for him. Following the Greyhounds' season, Nurse joined the Oklahoma City Barons, the Oilers' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, where he played in four regular-season games and three playoff games.

At the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) provincials, Nurse was part of the Stoney Creek team that won a silver medal. She also had a successful high school career, winning a bronze medal at the 2010 OFSSAA championships and a silver medal at the OFSSAA 2011.
In addition, Nurse played with Team Heaney in 2010, where they made it to the quarter-finals of the 2010 Ontario Winter Games. In the 2010-11 Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) season, Nurse was a prominent player for the Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres, leading the team in scoring and earning a spot on the OWHA All-Star Team for a game against Team Ontario Under-18.
During the 2011-12 PWHL season, she was given the role of alternate captain with Stoney Creek and helped the team win a bronze medal at the PWHL championships. Nurse continued to excel in the 2012-13 season, breaking the league record for most goals in a season previously held by Kelly Sabatine and Thea Imbrogno.
