Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a 2023 American superhero movie produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is the final installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, and the 32nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie features a star-studded cast, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone.
The story follows the Guardians as they embark on a mission to protect Rocket from the High Evolutionary. Gunn had initial ideas for a third film in 2014 and announced his return to write and direct in 2017. He was briefly fired in 2018 but was reinstated in 2019 after completing other projects. Is Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
After being killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and narrowly escaping Tony Stark's snap in Avengers: Endgame, Gamora made her return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Since their introduction in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios' cosmic heroes have endured numerous hardships and tragedies. However, the conclusion of the MCU's Infinity Saga marked one of the team's most significant losses, as Zoe Saldaña's character, Gamora, was sacrificed by Thanos on Vormir in exchange for the Soul Stone.
Nevertheless, this was not the end of Gamora's story in the MCU. Five years after Thanos wiped out half of the universe's population, the remaining Avengers united to embark on the Time Heist, a mission to gather the Infinity Stones from different points in time. Unbeknownst to them, this inadvertently allowed the 2014 version of Thanos and his army to travel to the present day, resulting in the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame. Alongside Thanos came his daughters, a ruthless incarnation of Nebula, and a past version of Gamora from before she encountered the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In a twist of fate, as Tony Stark sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos and his forces, Gamora mysteriously managed to evade death. This unexpected turn of events set the stage for her return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where her role and involvement in the upcoming adventure will be unveiled.
How did Gamora Come Back?

How is Gamora Alive?
The events of Avengers: Endgame play a crucial role in Gamora's survival and her appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Fans will remember that Gamora met a tragic fate in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos sacrificed her in order to obtain the Soul Stone. This particular version of Gamora is considered permanently deceased and cannot be brought back to life. However, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a different iteration of Gamora emerges, brought to Earth by Thanos during the final moments of Avengers: Endgame.
Upon being reunited with Gamora, Peter Quill (Star-Lord) was taken aback when she unexpectedly kneed him in the crotch. This version of Gamora hails from a time before she meets Quill and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which means she has no knowledge of who Quill is. After Tony Stark erased Thanos and his army from existence, this new version of Gamora was spared and now roams the cosmos independently. However, it appears that she is open to reuniting with the Guardians in some capacity, indicating a potential new dynamic in the upcoming movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Plot
The Guardians of the Galaxy are attacked by a Sovereign warrior named Adam, who seriously wounds Rocket, and flees after being stabbed by Nebula. The Guardians cannot tend to Rocket's wounds due to a kill switch made by Orgocorp, so they travel to the company's headquarters to find an override code. While Rocket is unconscious, he recalls his past as a baby raccoon who was experimented on by the High Evolutionary. The Guardians, along with the Ravagers and Gamora, infiltrate Orgocorp to retrieve Rocket's file but discover that the code is missing.
They head to Counter-Earth to find the code, where they are followed by Ayesha and Adam. The High Evolutionary initiates the destruction and planned recreation of Counter-Earth, but the Guardians manage to retrieve the code and save Rocket's life. In the end, the Guardians go on a new mission, Quill reunites with his grandfather, and the rescued children are raised by Nebula and Drax.
