The final scenes of the movie, where Sandeep's parents receive his body wrapped in the tricolor, evoke strong emotions. Prakash Raj's exceptional acting and Revathy's portrayal of a grieving mother of a martyr soldier are noteworthy. The touching scenes where Sandeep hears the voices of his loved ones after being injured also leave a lasting impact.

The movie also includes an excellent dialogue about the media's overzealousness, where they prioritize ratings over someone's life. However, the way Major Sandeep uses the media to his advantage is commendable. Moreover, his respectful tribute to the soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil War deserves appreciation.

Major Movie Plot

The movie "The Siege of Mumbai" opens with Sandeep Unnikrishnan defying orders from the Pakistani Army to retreat from a disputed area and declaring that it belongs to India. Sandeep grows up in Bangalore with his sister Sandhya and parents K. Unnikrishnan and Dhanalakshmi. He develops a fascination with the military after attending a Navy ceremony as a child and falls in love with his classmate Isha in his teenage years. Despite his father's opposition, Sandeep joins the army after his application to the Navy is rejected, and rises to become an NSG training officer.

In 2008, Sandeep is married to Isha but their marriage is on the rocks, and he requests leave to try and salvage it. However, on the same day, Pakistani terrorists launch a series of deadly attacks in Mumbai, causing chaos and panic. Sandeep volunteers to join the NSG mission to neutralize the terrorist threat and they commence Operation Black Tornado, but encounter numerous obstacles including deadly booby traps and a media frenzy outside the hotel that the terrorists use to their advantage. As the NSG rescues hostages and close in on the terrorists, Sandeep decides to go to the 5th floor to save trapped guests and heroically kills some of the terrorists before ultimately being killed in action.

Sandeep's death devastates his family and loved ones, and a large military funeral is held in his honor. A 10-year commemoration ceremony is held in 2018, where Pramoda, a guest who had been trapped in the hotel during the attacks, is reunited with Shirley, a young girl whose life she had saved. Sandeep's father gives a moving speech, urging people to remember Sandeep not for how he died but for how he lived. A flashback at the end of the movie shows Sandeep playing cricket with children from Pakistan and promising to return to play with them again.

Major Movie Review

Have you ever wondered how a film can pay tribute to a fallen hero while also shining a light on the sacrifices made by Sashi Kiran Tikka's Major does just that. This action-packed drama follows Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an NSG major with a protective instinct that puts him in harm's way to save lives. But what happens when duty calls and tragedy strikes?

And how does the film tell his story when the audience already knows the outcome, with a non-linear screenplay, a talented cast including Adivi Sesh and Saiee Manjrekar, and a focus on Sandeep the human rather than just Sandeep the martyr, Major is a must-watch that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the sacrifices made by soldiers and their loved ones.
