Sterling Burton Marlin (born June 30, 1957) is a semi-retired professional stock car racing driver from the United States. He currently drives the No. 114 for Sterling Marlin Racing on the part-time JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. He previously raced in the NASCAR Cup Series, where he won the Daytona 500 in 1994 and 1995. He is the late NASCAR driver Coo Coo Marlin's son. He is married to Paula and has three children: a daughter, Sutherlin, a son, Steadman, a former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, and a grandson, Stirlin, who races in Sterling's No. 114 Super Late Model. What Happened To Sterling Marlin?

Those who have followed Sterling's life since he retired from professional driving may be aware that he has been battling Parkinson's disease for more than a decade. Concerns about Sterling's health were heightened after an Instagram video of him in the studio with Dale Jr. surfaced. Sterling brought a case of Budweiser, but many people were struck by how frail he appeared.

Although he is only 65 years old, it is clear that the disease has taken its toll on him. Fans can now watch snippets of the interview on YouTube now that the full podcast is available. What Is Wrong With Sterling Marlin?

On March 18, 2010, Marlin announced his retirement from racing. He previously owned a Chevrolet dealership in Ashland City, Tennessee, and a Dodge dealership in Dickson, Tennessee. Marlin revealed publicly in 2012 that he had Parkinson's disease. As part of his treatment, he underwent deep brain stimulation surgical procedures at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In late 2011, Marlin, along with several other drivers and businessmen, helped form Tennessee Racing Association, LLC in an effort to save Fairgrounds Speedway and keep it active in the racing community. Despite his retirement from NASCAR, Marlin is still a semi-active driver in the Pro Late Model Division at Fairgrounds Speedway. 

What Disease Does Sterling Marlin Have?

Sterling Marlin has Parkinson's disease, it is a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and the nerve-controlled parts of the body. The symptoms appear gradually. The first symptom could be a slight tremor in only one hand. Although tremors are common, the disorder can also cause stiffness or slowing of movement.

In the early stages of Parkinson's disease, your face may be expressionless. When you walk, your arms may not swing. Your speech may become slurred or soft. Parkinson's disease symptoms worsen as the disease progresses.
