The screenplay of the movie was written by Nicholas Pileggi and Martin Scorsese. This movie is based on the book ‘Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas’ written by Nicholas Pileggi in 1995. Many well-known actors starred in this movie, including Robert De Niro, Don Rickles, Sharon Stone, Kevin Pollack and James Wood.

The protagonist Sam “Ace” Rothstein’s character is based on Frank Rosenthal and Ginger McKenna is based on Rosenthal’s wife, Geri McGee. Who Is Frank Rosenthal?

Frank Rosenthal who is also known as “Lefty Rosenthal” was a former American sports bettor, Las Vegas casino executive, and organised crime associate. He was born on June 12, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born into a Jewish family. He learned sports betting when he was young, in the bleachers of Wrigley Field. He worked for the Chicago Outfit in the mid-1950s. In Las Vegas, he secretly ran Stardust, Marina, Fremont, and Hacienda casinos. He ran the casinos without having a gaming license. 

He married Geraldine McGee on May 4, 1969, and they had two children together named Steven and Stephanie. Their marriage ended and McGee died of a drug overdose in 1982. Later in 1982, there was an assassination attempt made to kill him, but he survived that. He moved to Laguna Niguel, California later. He died at the age of 79, on October 13, 2008.
