Valerie Adams Early Career

In 1998, Valerie Adams met her coach Kirsten Hellier, a former javelin thrower, and they formed a coaching partnership that lasted for 11 years. Adams rose to prominence in 2001 when she won the World Youth Championships with a throw of 16.87 m.
