He was safeguarding Jae Crowder on a drive and stuck his hand, making a beeline for the storage space after the play. Morant has played with his right hand heavily taped ever since that injury. The star guard made a mistake in Game 1 against the Lakers when he tried to finish over Anthony Davis and fell awkwardly.
Morant went through different tests and imaging, none of which uncovered a physical issue to his right hand or wrist. Morant told reporters that the pain in his right hand was a 10 and that he was unable to use it after suffering the injury in Game 1.

Temetrius Jamel "Ja" Morant (conceived August 10, 1999) is an American expert ball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the Public B-ball Affiliation (NBA). As a sophomore in 2019, he was a consensus first-team All-American while playing basketball for the Murray State Racers.
