Jeepers Creepers 2 Ending Explained

The ending of Jeepers Creepers 2 sees Jack attempting to kill The Creeper. He manages to successfully stab the monster, providing a satisfying moment for viewers. However, instead of dying, The Creeper enters a state of hibernation. Unlike some mysterious horror movie villains, The Creeper's nature is clear - he cannot be killed, and there's a possibility of his return in 23 years. Despite this, Jack's ability to calm the monster down and prevent further harm is significant.

The final scene takes place 23 years later, aligning with The Creeper's feeding cycle every 23 springs. Three high school students visit the farm owned by the Taggart family. Jack Jr., now older, showcases The Creeper as "A Bat Out Of Hell," allowing people to pay and witness the creature that has plagued their town for decades. Jack Sr. hints at The Creeper waking up in "About three more days, give or take a day or two."

Similar to Ari Aster's unsettling horror films, Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 2 incorporate emotional elements. While centered around an evil monster, the movies delve into the lives of two families torn apart by its killing spree. This adds relatability to characters like Trish and Jack Jr., providing additional layers and depth to the films.

While there may be some overrated horror movies from the 2000s, Jeepers Creepers 2 stands out as an entertaining narrative about a monster terrorizing a small town for decades. The Taggart family, much like Trish, feels cursed by The Creeper, and the ending of Jeepers Creepers 2 reinforces the idea that this truly evil monster cannot be escaped.

Jeepers Creepers 2 Plot

In the aftermath of the events from the previous films, the Creeper resurfaces three days later, continuing its feeding spree. On the 22nd day, it abducts young Billy Taggart in front of his father, Jack Sr., his older brother, Jack Jr., and their loyal dog, Mac. The next day, a school bus carrying a high school basketball team and cheerleaders experiences a tire blowout after being struck by a hand-crafted shuriken made of bone fragments.

Minxie Hayes, one of the cheerleaders, has a terrifying vision of Billy Taggart and Darry Jenner, who try to warn her about the Creeper before it causes another tire to blow out, leaving the bus stranded. Seizing the opportunity, the Creeper abducts the bus driver, Betty Borman, and coaches Charlie Hanna and Dwayne Barnes. When the Creeper returns, it specifically targets six students: Dante Belasco, Jake Spencer, Minxie Hayes, Scotty Braddock, Andy "Bucky" Buck, and Deaundre "Double D" Davis. Minxie has yet another vision in which Darry reveals that the Creeper emerges every 23rd spring for 23 days to feast on humans. She shares this information with the rest of the students.

Meanwhile, the Taggart family hears about the police reports and sets out to hunt down the Creeper. They establish radio contact with the stranded school bus. In an intense encounter, the Creeper attacks Bucky, but Rhonda manages to impale it through the head with a javelin. However, Dante foolishly pokes at the Creeper's wing, leading to his own decapitation. The Creeper removes its damaged head and replaces it with Dante's severed head.

With the situation escalating, the surviving students decide to leave the bus and search for help. However, the Creeper returns and chases them into a field, where it kills Jake and captures Scotty. When the Creeper launches another attack on Jonny, Chelsea, and Bucky inside the bus, the Taggarts and Mac arrive just in time. Jack Sr. shoots the Creeper with a homemade harpoon, provoking a fierce struggle. The Creeper manages to escape by flipping over the bus.

Rhonda, Izzy Cohen, and Double D find a truck and attempt to flee, but the Creeper pursues them relentlessly. In a selfless act, Izzy pushes Rhonda out of the truck before causing it to crash, resulting in injuries to both Double D and the Creeper. Despite the wreckage, Izzy crawls away before the truck explodes. The Creeper continues its pursuit of Double D and corners him. However, Jack Jr. arrives and shoots the Creeper in the head with the harpoon. He repeatedly stabs the Creeper in its heart, but it enters a hibernation state just before dying.

Jumping ahead 23 years, three teenagers visit the Taggart farm, where the Creeper is now a sideshow attraction named "A Bat Out of Hell." The middle-aged Jack Jr. charges entrance fees, and an elderly Jack Sr. watches over the Creeper with the harpoon by his side. When the curious teenagers ask if he's waiting for something, Jack Sr. looks up at the Creeper and cryptically says, "About three more days, give or take a day or two."

When their bus breaks down on a remote road, a group of high school athletes encounters an unstoppable adversary they cannot overcome – and their very survival is at stake. With a ravenous gaze fixed upon them from outside the school bus windows, The Creeper relentlessly returns, over and over again. However, as the teammates realise that the creature selectively targets its victims, it becomes a test of their unity to withstand its insatiable hunger and prevent it from tearing them apart.

Jeepers Creepers 2 Review

Despite Scott's homophobic views, the movie showcases a significant focus on the male physique, with many of the male characters frequently appearing bare-chested. Critic John Fallon even comments, "At a certain point, I thought I was watching soft gay erotica," noting how four characters align shoulder to shoulder while urinating in a large field, which he finds unlikely given the circumstances. However, in a film where the Creeper could strike at any moment and snatch someone away, it would make sense to stick close to the tallest person, assuming that lightning would strike a tree instead of you.

Although it may be futile to apply logic to a movie like this, let's give it a try. At one point in the film, local newscasters discuss the shocking discovery of 300 corpses, stitched together into a tapestry, found in the basement of an old church. All the bodies are missing one body part, indicating that the Creeper has been active in the area for years. The question arises: Would anyone notice 300 disappearances in such a small county where the main road sees no traffic? Jack Taggart ponders this as he studies the side of the screen, wondering if his son's disappearance is connected to the recurring carnage that happens every 23 years in the vicinity.

The movie aims to scare the audience through unexpected attacks from the Creeper. However, in this genre, such sudden surprises are expected, leading viewers to evaluate the craftsmanship rather than experiencing genuine fear. Nevertheless, the makeup and costume departments, including Richard Radlefsen, who is credited for "Creeper makeup and lead suit," deserve praise. It remains unclear why the creature is named the Creeper despite its ability to leap and fly. Likewise, the reasons behind Francis Ford Coppola's decision to produce this movie remain uncertain.
