About Freedom

"Freedom" is the fifteenth studio album by the American rock band Journey, released on July 8, 2022. It's an important album for Journey because it's the second one without their founding bassist, Ross Valory. He was replaced by Randy Jackson, who was last in the band on the album "Raised on Radio" in 1986. This album has fifteen songs, making it the longest Journey album ever, if we don't count the compilation albums.

The gap between this album and their previous one, "Eclipse," was quite long – eleven years to be exact. It's also the first album to feature drummer and producer Narada Michael Walden. However, both Walden and Jackson left the group before the album was released.

While "Freedom" received praise for its performances and musicianship, some critics had mixed feelings about it. They didn't like some aspects of its production, mixing, and how long the album is.

Interestingly, the title "Freedom" was originally meant for another Journey album called "Raised on Radio," released in 1986. However, back then, lead singer Steve Perry decided to change it. So, the title "Freedom" finally found its place in this album, released many years later.
