Two characters, Mei and a young Utahime, enter the haunted house and split up to explore its interior. Utahime, as she delves deeper into the house, checks various locations for any signs of strange activity. She stumbles upon a room with a group of rodents. Exiting the room, she accidentally bumps into Mei.

Utahime finds it odd that the floor they are on doesn't look familiar to her, even though Mei claims to have traversed it three times. Mei theorizes that they are trapped inside a barrier created by the cursed spirit, which is how the spirit kills its victims. In order to defeat the spirit, they must find a way to escape the barrier. Utahime comes up with a plan to free themselves from the spirit's grasp.

As Utahime begins executing her plan, she unexpectedly encounters a young Satoru Gojou. Satoru mocks Utahime for being scared just as the cursed spirit reveals itself. Getou and a young Shoko arrive, and Utahime is relieved to see them. To her surprise, she learns that two days have passed since they entered the haunted house.

Satoru explains that the cursed spirit has the power to manipulate time. Mei asks Shoko, Getou, and Satoru about the "veil issue," and they receive a scolding from a young Masamichi. Satoru steps forward and takes responsibility, apologizing for forgetting about the veil.

Later on, Satoru and his friends visit a basketball court where they engage in a discussion about the importance of setting up veils to protect the general public from cursed spirits and techniques. Getou argues that it is crucial to keep the populace calm in order to discourage the cursed spirits. On the other hand, Satoru believes it is exhausting to constantly look after non-sorcerers. Their disagreement escalates, but they are interrupted by Masamichi, who assigns them a new mission.

Masamichi reveals that their mission has two goals. The first goal is to escort and erase the Star Plasma Vessel, a girl who is compatible with Tengen. One of the characters asks if this mission is related to renewing Tengen's technique, and Masamichi explains that Tengen possesses an immortality cursed technique.

However, once Tengen reaches a certain age, his body starts undergoing a process of rewriting. To reset this process and maintain his humanity, Tengen assimilates with the Star Plasma Vessel every 500 years. Failure to do so would result in Tengen losing his humanity, his will, and his ability to supply power to the jujutsu schools and maintain security.

Masamichi informs them that two groups, the Curse User Group Q and the Time Vessel Association, are after the Star Plasma Vessel. The Curse User Group Q aims to disrupt society through Tengen's rampage, while the Time Vessel Association worships Tengen like a god. Tengen plans to assimilate with the girl in two days, and Satoru and Getou must protect her and ensure she reaches Tengen within that timeframe.

Afterward, Satoru and the others discuss why the Time Vessel Association wants to kill the girl. Getou suggests that they want to maintain Tengen's purity, but he emphasizes that they should be more concerned about the Curse User Group Q. The episode takes a dramatic turn when an explosion occurs at the girl's door, causing her to jump off the building.

Getou manages to save her and realizes that it was a trap set by a member of the Curse User Group Q. Satoru prepares to confront the member, while two men observe the situation from a skyscraper. One of them invites his ally, Fushiguro, to participate in the scheme involving the Star Plasma Vessel, and Fushiguro eagerly accepts the offer.

Overall, Episode 1 of "Jujutsu Kaisen" Season 2 delves into the backstory and conflict between Suguru Getou and Satoru Gojou. The episode showcases Mappa's ability to deliver well-animated and immersive experiences for the audience. Scenes like Mei and Utahime's exploration of the haunted house provide intense and eerie vibes, enhanced by the creative use of camera angles.

The episode also offers a comparison between the younger and present versions of the characters, building anticipation for the development of their respective paths. While the episode's cinematography is impressive, there are moments when the delivery of important information becomes overwhelming, and some character designs may appear slightly off. Despite these minor issues, the episode captivates with its visuals and sets the stage for exciting developments in the upcoming season.
