Tony Stewart Racing, the sprint car team owned by NASCAR Cup Series star Tony Stewart, issued a statement on Owen's death. The accident marks the first fatality in USAC in almost seven years, with the last driver to die in a USAC-sanctioned event being former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Bryan Clauson in August 2016.
