As Kem Cetinay turned into Shepherds Hill, Romford, driving his £130,000 4X4 Mercedes G-Wagon at 11:27 am on August 4, 2022, Mr. Griggs collided with his car, resulting in him being thrown approximately 20 feet into the air from his bike.
Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine determined at Walthamstow Coroners' Court that Mr. Griggs suffered a significant heart injury, which would have led to rapid loss of consciousness. Despite the air ambulance services' efforts to resuscitate him using defibrillation and intubation, Mr. Griggs was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:04 pm.
The court heard that the crash occurred because Mr. Griggs was speeding on the wrong side of the road around a bend, where the view of oncoming drivers was obstructed by a hedge. At the time of the incident, Mr. Griggs was riding a motorbike with fake plates, equipped with an engine more than three times the standard size and exceeding the legal limit of THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, by 20 times.

During the inquest, it was revealed that a 125cc bike typically has a horsepower range of eight to twelve, while a 400cc bike can reach 40-50hp, significantly increasing acceleration and potentially top speed.

He held a provisional license, which only permitted him to ride a 125cc bike, and he was not authorized to operate such a powerful motorcycle. The family members were unable to identify who had modified the engine of the bike.
