Who is Kevin Love?
Kevin Wesley Love, born on September 7, 1988, is a professional basketball player from the United States who currently plays for the Miami Heat in the NBA. He has achieved numerous accolades throughout his career, including being a five-time All-Star, a two-time member of the All-NBA Second Team, and winning an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
Love has also represented the United States national team, winning gold medals at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Summer Olympics. In addition, he was recognised as the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2011 and led the league in rebounding. Growing up as the son of former NBA player Stan Love, Kevin Love was highly regarded as a basketball prospect while attending Lake Oswego High School in Oregon.
He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, where he helped lead the team to a Final Four appearance in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Love's outstanding performance earned him recognition as a consensus First Team All-American and the player of the year in the Pac-12 Conference. After his freshman year, Love decided to forego his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2008 NBA Draught.
He was selected fifth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies but was subsequently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night as part of an eight-player trade involving O. J. Mayo, who was chosen third overall. During the 2010–11 season, Love set a record for the longest streak of consecutive games with double figures in points and rebounds since the merger of the ABA and NBA.
