Killing Floor 2 is a first-person shooter game that offers both single-player and cooperative gameplay for up to six players. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a disastrous outbreak has spread across Europe and beyond, causing governments to collapse and communication systems to fail. It is a sequel to the original Killing Floor, which centered around the events of a bio-tech firm called Horzine that created military clones, only to have them unleashed by a deranged researcher.
In Killing Floor 2, players face waves of zombie-like creatures known as "Zeds." As the game progresses, the enemy count increases, and new types of enemies are introduced with each wave. The final wave culminates in a boss fight, with the boss character randomly determined at the start of the wave. Each boss requires a different strategy to defeat.
Players equip themselves with a combination of melee weapons, firearms, a healing syringe, and a welder used to block passages.
